Motor Sports (calm down, it's not what you think)

The other day I read a suggestion on this forum about the companies in automation competing for Taxi and police car contracts. Daffy said they are considering such a mechanic. I'm picturing something similar to current engine designer scenarios, but I may be wrong. Anyway, this made think that a similar mechanic could be used to simulate motor sports in the campaign.

I'm not going to go into how cool it would be to really manage a motor sports team and such, obviously. That's not what I'm suggesting and yes I know how hard that would be etc. etc. But, and this is a big but, I think we can all agree that leaving motor sports entirely out of automation would be sad. Even unrealistic, considering how important motor sports are for so many car brands.

So maybe the devs could consider something along these lines:
The game world simulates a couple of motor sports championships on the background. Maybe F1, WRC and GT (or others. thats not the important part right now). So every year the player receives a notification about the specifications for this seasons F1 engines, GT cars etc. and if they want, they can submit their designs (there would be a deadline) and some team or teams (all controlled by the computer) would choose the player designs. Then as the year progressed the player would get notifications about the races, so they could see how well their cars were performing (again the player controlls nothing of this) and if they did well, the player's company would receive a branding bonus in the sports category (maybe also in technonogical expertise).
If you want, you can make it just slightly deeper and have the option to buy a team. That way the team gets your name, always uses your designs and thats it (maybe you set their budget? these mechanics should imply that you loose money always) in which case the branding bonus would be bigger.

Man... my posts are always huge! Sorry for the long read.

What do you guys think? Worth the trouble?

Sounds nice and could make the world somewhat richer. Not a bad idea at all.

Do please check this: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=137

Motorsports are already listed on the features they want to include, quite hard to miss if you ask me.

Jeez, man... did you read what I wrote? I'm not talking about running a team like that. I actually reinforced that several times in the text.

I think we're most likely just going to wait to do a proper expansion to be honest.

That I already expect :) My suggestion comes from the belief that the two aren't mutually exclusive.

But if the idea isn't appealing to you than nothing more to say :)

i don't think its a case of the idea not being appealing, I think its more trying to get the main tycoon game finished, done right and released before including other aspects that will soak up hrs and hrs of time?
