car modeler

Hello you, I wanted foremost you commended for your work.

I have a suggestion about the car modeler:
1) The ability to add chrome or plastic bar on the back and side of the car.
2) insert the logos on the side of the car (in the image of Maserati
3) trunk handle
4) Ability to change wheels
5) Ability to change the mirror (btw on a little car they are not well bonded to the car)
6) for the badges I've read that they would be put in place (in the back I think) but would it be possible to put on the side? (as GTI)

I think all of this will be possible eventually, as one of the developers said earlier today:

<<<you can be pretty sure that the cars you save now won't be working once the game is done - or at least that would surprise me. :)
All stats will be put into the Car Designer and displayed with the REAL Car Designer demo... this is just a mini-teaser.>>>

Just that sais alott, that the car designer will be much more advanced with much more abilities ! :)

Re: car modeler

Making a cardesigner and not thinking about the things you said would be a bit weird :P Trust me if I say that they will be in ;)

Re: car modeler

THey actually document everything really well! There is a big group of beta tester and as soon as something doesn't feel well on the gameplay side or things are missing, it is discussed.

1) Not sure if we can make it work nicely, we'll see
2) Yes
3) Yes
4) In the "Model Designer" where you make the specific sub models of the car, yes
5) No
6)isn't that the same question as 2?

Re: car modeler

I'm sorry for digging up this thread, but I asked myself the same things with the chrome attachments. I and some other people use squashed chrome vents for it. The problem is a) it doesn't look like a continuous part, because of the lamellas and b) you can't place them on doors. Basicly you need a flattened half cylinder with smoothed edges in some variants (so they can be fit around windows maybe?), which we can attach anywhere, even on the roof.

And for the Modeltype I would suggest that you could model an alphabet in the "Automation font" for the start, which should work similar to the badge fixtures, except that it's placeable anywhere. It would be nice to have different choices, but seeing the approach with the badges I think it could work at least for some time :) (also Umlaute ä,ö,ü would be sweet! just add dots and a stripe for accents. People can rotate it if necessary and send secret messages in car form  )

I think he meant off-center badge placement in 6.

I actually helped the devs a while ago with this badges thing. Check out the link above.
The thread is a bit older though, so things might have changed. I also should make clear here that im >>>NOT A DEVELOPER OF THE GAME<<<. I just had a bit of contact with Daffyflyer a while ago and then spoke about it with him and helped a bit out making the alphabet and some presets.

Re: car modeler

Thank you very much for that link :) I haven't been here for a while and didn't notice that this was going on. Definetly a more elegant solution if it works out.
