Stamping doors and glasses on a car mesh

Hi guys!

I've been watching the Devstream recently, and for now, car meshes are made with doors and glasses format on it.

The stamp process used for headlights and grilles could be used for doors and glasses too ? that way you could make just one car mesh (with a ''clean'' side) and stamp a 5-door or a 3-door configuration on a hatch for example, and side rear windows and rear doors could have different shapes or be editable.

It should be easier than a headlight or a grille to work properly, since doors and glasses are always on the same place on the mesh and glasses are a black surface a little bit inside the car body, without a complex interior like headlights.

Thanks for reading!

Re: Stamping doors and glasses on a car mesh

The relationship of the shape of the body to the shape of the windows seems to be fairly critical to insuring the car doesn't look like crap, so whilst it would be theoretically possible, I don't think it'd work too well.

Doors would also be quite hard, as the sort of shape and flow of the entire side of the car needs to be designed around them, as does the placement of pillars, so all in all I don't think it'd produce great results.

I do plan to make 2 dr/4 dr varients of most bodies to choose from though.
