Side Draft Carburetors

Would it be possible to add single choke side draft carbs like SUs to the game.
They look better than down draft carbs and probably give better performance due to a more direct path to the ports.

Re: Side Draft Carburetors

Aren't DCOE sidedraft carbs?
DC - Doppio Corpo -> double throat
O - Orrizontale/Horizontal -> Sidedraft
E - Die Cast

Adding every type of carburettor would end in the so called Development Hell

Re: Side Draft Carburetors

yip that's it. like on a mini cooper, xu1 torana.
I'm not saying draw up all different brand/styles. just have something generic like the downdraft versions are.

Re: Side Draft Carburetors

My question would be: what would be the actual gameplay effect of having more carb-variants in the game?
What do these carbs have for advantags/disadvantages over the already implemented ones?
That put aside, it won't happen just as Pyrlix has pointed out, there is a LOT of work connected to doing additional fuel systems.

Re: Side Draft Carburetors

The advantage of a SU style carb, is that it makes the engine much smoother when suddenly stomping on the gas pedal.
The disadvantage is that it reduces the responsiveness of said engine.

So for a smooth granny mobile, or a large luxurios Jaguar, a SU carb, or 4, is a good thing.
But on a sporty nimble hatchback, driving with a lot of fast pedal action, a couple of DCOE carbs (or 4 Mikuni flatslides) is much better.

Volvo B18 B20 was almost always fitted with a SU, or 2 for sportier models. Think about that. ;)

Maybe one day, but we've got more important things to do first, like cars ;)
