Re: Added Materials

Suggestions must be:
Almighty Killrob wrote:1. A key technical part of real life car/engine design, a major focus of real life engineers, not a small engineering chore.
2. An interesting design compromise. There have to be advantages and disadvantages to every choice in said gameplay mechanic.
3. A worthwhile trade-off considering both development effort and gameplay value.

Maybe fulfills number 2. Maybe.

As for 1 and 3, no shot.

You're right on 1, but search around the web for 3 and you may get some good "proof".

Re: Added Materials

How is it a worthwhile trade-off if it is not used in any production cars?

Yet.

All of these have significant advantages in the real world.

Re: Added Materials

The devs cannot put something in the game if it is not in any cars, and no automakers show signs of implementing the technology.

And no need to double post.

Re: Added Materials

Yes, a bit too futuristic as no one uses this tech in production cars yet. That would mean an unlock year of at least 2030. (As it can be considered that the most advanced car makers have about +10 tech pool in certain areas).

Ceramic pistons are the most likely in the bunch (with less crazy features). Now where are some production titanium conrods?

Re: Added Materials

Production titanium conrods are in the GM LS7, the Honda NSX, and indeed certain Honda C engines. That's what I can think of from the top of my head, but I'm sure there are many more.
