Branded engines in "Styles"

Will it be possible to real life branded engines / engine covers like the Dodge/Ram's Hemi & Chevy's Vortec , or IF diesel is put in, the Cummins and Powerstroke?
Or an option to change the text instead of seeing Automation on the engine?
Also an option for a clear cover style would be pretty cool.

The game is amazing so far, keep up the amazing work! :D

Re: Branded engines in "Styles"

I don't want to speak for the dev's but typically branding means getting licenses from every manufacturer you want to feature. the ability to create our own text would be an easy way around that.

in the future, if they ever implemented some sort of design room like forza has we could make decals in whatever size/shape we wanted. i'm not sure what legality might come into play with that, but it certainly seems like the liability should be minimum since its the users creating the content.

Making custom text that actually looks good is damned hard, as generating all the normal maps and that.. yeah.

Can't really have real branding on anything either as we'll get sued ;)

btw, speaking of custom text on head covers - is it not possible to make standard characters and then put them on?

not saying you should do it right now, but just consider it

No, that's what I'm saying is hard, as we have to hand make textures with text in the right places, and then use "xNormal" to create the normal maps for each texture etc. I can't think of any way we could easily automate that part, plus you'd also need to have it work out how to place the text correctly so it never got cut off at the edges/fitted properly, which is already hard enough with the premade textures, to make sure they fit all the different covers that share the texture. It's really VERY difficult, and doesn't add much to the game compared to the litterally months of work it would take to perfect., there is a good reason that not many games let you put custom text on your vehicles etc. The only reason Forza does OK at it is that they don't have to do normal maps etc, and they rely on you to make sure text fits properly etc. And even then that system would have taken a lot of work to get working as well as it does.
