Cost of Platform vs MSRP of car

Could any one give me info on the cost to manufacture in game vs what the set MSRP of the car should be?

For example if I produce a Car that cost 21000 per car testing screen what percent is pretty much going rate to set the MSRP??

So would it be like I can build for 21 and ill set the msrp at 25,000 .. or is it much higher as a industry standard?

Re: Cost of Platform vs MSRP of car

It's hard to estimate at the moment, a lot of one time budget goes into engineering, and tooling of your factories. So it depends on how many cars you can sell. Der Bayer is working on a tool to roughly estimate it though, as part of his CTC challenge. And if the car costs like 21000, it'll be at the very least double that, it really depends on how much of the one time costs you have to charge / car. That's why supercars are so expensive too: not many are made, but all the expenses still need to be paid back.

Yes, a good rule of thumb for now is to multiply the total costs by 2 for normal, high-volume production cars. Anything that gets lower than average sales would have to have much higher pricing than that.

I'd actually say that it's probably more like 3x the platform cost.

The dealers probably buy the cars for about double what they cost to make, and then they turn around and rack up the price again so that it's actually profitable.

True that, every step in the chain of distribution adds a big chunk on top!
