Weird habits ingame

This is a thread where you comments what is your unusual habit ingame.. like: what is what you do in the game that doesnt make much sense?

I For example use RL engines as templates for my own designs, especially old engines. also I tend to try to achieve the most with the less obvious way (like having sportscars with unexpected engines that still somehow work)

So tell us: What is your weird habit ingame?

Re: Weird habits ingame

I always find myself using Google Translate to name my cars, for example if my car was fast, I would type something like 'velocity' and translate it to different languages until something sounds good.. Anyone else do this?

Re: Weird habits ingame

I don't like DOHC. I mean, I still use it when it's absolutely necessary, but if costs start to matter, I decide that it's a heavy overkill and just go for multivalve SOHC.

I agree... I tend to save it for the really really sporty stuff, OHV or DAOHC fits the bill nicely most of the time.

Re: Weird habits ingame

I am exactly the same, even in multiplayer I rarely stray from using a SOHC.

Re: Weird habits ingame

also those engines derived from ancient RL units I take them to a more recent past/present and and put adavanced technology on them. My plan to when I get the company running is to have a few core engines and keep updating as time goes by. theoretically a 1994 piece would be able to fit in a 1954 block

Re: Weird habits ingame

I tend to avoid engine tech. I barely use vvl, only sometimes include vvt, almost never use direct injection unless the contest calls for it and while not tech i also tend to only use baffled mufflers.

Re: Weird habits ingame

Im completely the opposite it seems, I find my excitement in pushing a "simple", small engine to its limits with high tech, not good for the prestige it seems, but still. An example of this is the production 2.4l 4-banger which gets over 500 hp Thanks tp vvt/vvl and some serious boost, whilst keeping a quite reasonable economy for modem times. Or my tiny 1.3l turbo engine with 265hp revving to over 9000.

Just pushing the limits of what you'd expect :P Although I want to make some SOHC V6's as soon as they come out.

Re: Weird habits ingame

I also tend to go for rwd only even when the car in question is a tiny econobox (also it would be nice to have an actual KEI car platform in the game, I have a Kei engine that could use a home)

Re: Weird habits ingame

Engine-wise, I almost always use 3 valve-SOHC. It just seems right. Occasionally I'll use 4-valves, and I like to use DOHC for smaller engines or sporty engines that have turbo's. I use VVL in the "good" engines.
Almost always use a 6-speed as the base, and a 7-speed when it can make sense. RWD with optional 4WD unless it's an eco car. I've made one eco car and it was FWD with a 5-speed.
Design wise, I always end up using the AMG-style front ends. One grille right at the hood cutoff, another grille on the bottom of the bumper and a vent to either side to the bottom. Bias, I guess.
