With the update coming out in the evening hours of 12th November in the US time zone and early morning of 13th November in the more eastern time zones,
I think it is appropriate to open up this thread to collect your thoughts on the latest features. :)

So here we go! What do you think?
Cheers!

PS: No, this is not a "when is it out"-asking thread.
Der Bayer: It's not a random rambling thread either. 1-day ban for spammers. Post constructive feedback after the update is released.

Hi Killrob,

first off thanks for the release! I was really excited to open up Automation, as I do every day and watch the download finish.

Now that I spent about an hour with it, I can give a first impression:

It is indeed fun to compare the different transmission-settings and see their effect on the car, first off. Then again, many parameters are still missing, so the testing is rather limited yet. Naturally.
Then I noticed the new chassis you added to the game and here I have to say, for me, I don't see the point in having four chassies which all could be for a volkswagen beetle I, but can hardly be modified. Sure, I can stretch and pull some, but the general look of the car doesn't change. One or two would have been enough, for me they are just too similar and the proportions seem a little different as well.

As for the parts, I like the stuff you added, as it gives many new possibilities. However to mark certain parts of the car, especially in the area of the rear bumper is sometimes very very difficult, the cursor keeps jumping to where it should not be.
Also I am having big trouble to put a small lip on the trunk of my car, f.e. I wanted to have a nice small lip and the very end of the cars trunk, in order to make it look like a small spoiler. Here is a pic:

I understand that the rear of the trunk describes a slight curve which is why the spoiler stands out, but it would be nice to be able to attach the lip at the very end of the trunk.

That's all I can say so far.. I am looking forward to the next update already and if I can be of any help, let me know.

Thanks guys (and girls)!

After todays update I cant run the game more. It hang on loading (complete engine in screen). I try changing settings but it did not help. Some ideas? Maybe I need delete all my engines etc?
BTW After hang - task manager show 25%-30% of cpu usage all the time :)

EDIT - after deleting Automation folder from Documents - game started.
EDIT2 - I copied back my engines and game hang on loading screen, so its a issue with some engines from older version I guess :(

would be nice if you could not fit oversized wheels/tires (like when u hold down - you can see them clipping through the arches)

What is the latest version right now, Mine updated to 1194 this evening, and I seem to have the advanced car design, but not the ability to add an engine/transmission to a new car.

Sorry, I know you addressed your post to Killrob but I'm gonna try and give a quick answer until someone more qualified comes along. Which bodies are you referring to here? I feel that the bodies are quite tweakable within reason (not causing glitches). Also I think that as more bodies are added from different eras and the like, that variation will be improved. As with the other things you mention, I would think they will be improved over time as the game grows. As I say, I'm not really qualified to answer so you'll probably get a better answer when Killrob is around. :)

Yes unfortunately for some people older engines are causing issues. Seems weird as some engines it doesn't mind, some cause this hang.

Which bodies do you see this on? Again, with it not being a massive issue I would think it will be sorted in good time.

That is the latest version yes, if you go to the car manager screen and select a platform, in the bottom right you should have options for creating a New Model.

I love the new update!!

Only thing I see is where did the cutouts go for plates? And is thw engine bay ever going to change based on if you at extra room on the top or move the front window forward? That's everything I have! Love the integration!

Thanks, just a case of me not knowing what I'm doing

All of my engines need to be smaller.
fml.

EDIT- I'm just stupid, forgot the difference between longitudinal and transverse :D

Ok, quick feedback and question: I am running Windows 8.1, and I did not have a problem with my previously designed engines. However, it seems that I did we lose all my previous car designs. In other words, either this update incompatible with previous car designs, or I ran into a bug.

Furthermore, I already had a quick run of the new platform system, and it seems to be working ok. I can design new cars, and fit my old engines, which is cool. Plus, the new fixtures are going to keep me busy for a while.

On the theme of the tests, I still need to try it in more depth before leaving a more thorough opinion. Overall, at first glance, it seems that you guys did a good job with the game mechanics in this update. I can see how future features will complexify the game experience and make it more fun for us. Congratulations.

P.S. I am sorry if my previous post (which was deleted) did not seem to you to fit this forum.

Yeah, it's just that the older platforms do not work with the current platform designer, good that you got to keep your old engines though.

New feedback: I was expecting more cutouts, or an extension of the possibilities of this feature, like you guys did with grills, which now are more flexible and can be used on the top of the hood as well. But where are the cutouts now? Was the feature completely removed? It was one of the best tools to customize different shapes for our designed cars, as it made up for the limitations on having to depart from a few not very customizable body types. You addressed that a bit by working a lot on a few more body types. Another way of addressing that (not mutually excludent) would be to extend the cutout feature to something more flexible. If you want examples on how I was using it, go to my car design post in this forum (Shagya Motors).

The cars seem to have a ridiclous top speed capabilities. 380hp can make my 2 door move to 187.5 mph, im not sure if the games wrong or my car hauls that much ass.

On large turbo engines, the top of the turbo sticks through the hood.

I dont think that is ridicoulous at all. thats around 300 KPH which isnt all that fast I guess, my 140 HP inline 4 engine moves my 2600 pound Ford focus at 200 KPH. I think an engine that has 240 more HP would move a car of the same weight at 300... I am kind of surprised it doesn't make more Top speed...

It does... the power to *drag* ratio is similar to that of a Cadillac CTS-V (2009-) and that has a top speed of 190+ mph. If anything, I'd say the acceleration is slightly slower than expected, but that's most likely due to the heavy front weight bias...
