New Beta Testers Needed (again)

Update (10th June)

This thread is now closed and no more applications will be considered. During the next 3 days please watch you Inbox for forum PMs, I'll
be sending the closer candidates a question or two I'd like you to answer. The rules for this are: if you didn't get a PM you were not
considered. If you got a PM and send no reply until Sunday 17th June, you will not be considered. If you don't hear from me within 2 days
of you sending your answers, you are not in the closer selection.

New Testers Needed

We are making great progress on the engine designer, and V8's are on the horizon along with 8 shiny new V8 scenarios to go with them!
At this pace the V8's will be released to people that have pre-ordered within less than a month, if all goes well and no major problems surface.

The current development focuses on V8 engines and their scenarios, and the testing team is doing well. The next subproject will be to
completely revamp and improve the engine designer, inside and out. To implement compressors, turbos, and twin-turbos into the game,
and finally, implement Inline-6 engines along with 16 brand new general Engine Designer scenarios. Does sound like a load of work? Yes it is!

That is where you come into the picture. For this next, huge, 12-week subproject we do not have enough (wo-)manpower willing to test and
fine-tune all the new aspects of the game. It will kick off around June 18th.

So Here is the Deal

If you:
  • Have preordered Automation.
  • Are willing to follow the testing rule set and work on engine testing as well as scenarios.
  • Are willing to document your findings in a detailed fashion in the tools provided (Pivotal Tracker & Balancing Spreadsheet).
  • Know that "testing" does not mean "just playing around".
  • Can spend more than on average 1 hour per week on testing.
  • Are able to give detailed feedback to assist in making Automation more polished and fun for everyone.
  • Write here in this thread why you should be part of the team.

You will:
  • Be accepted into the beta if we deem your offered effort both reasonable and sincere.

We are working in a new system nicknamed POMMS (Project-Oriented Modular Motivational System) in which you are given "points" for all the
work you do for the team. Tested a scenario? Gives a point. Gathered a complete set of real-engine data? Gives a point. Completed a quest on
the quest board? Could give many points! While you are required to achieve a certain number of points to stay in the testing team, those that
exceed expectations will be rewarded accordingly (will get their place in the game credits and receive a special forum status).

If you like the sound of this, you are most welcome to post down below! Also, be honest. We don't need people that just play around. Your help
would be greatly appreciated, and will make Automation a better product in the end - and the consequences of that should be to everyone's
advantage!

This invitation to join the testing team will remain open until the 10th of June. Post before then to be considered. :)

Cheers!

Re: New Beta Testers Needed (again)

Hey Killrob, I wold love to be on the beta team with you guys! I do play the game everyday and I'm always trying to look for small glitches and making new engines! I preordered and I've been in love with the game ever since :P I was even there watching the livestream watching Daffy upload the game!!!

If you have any questions to ask me I'm online almost all the time! Schools is now out so I am able to play and test features in the game everyday (about 20 or more hours per week) So, message me.

Thanks,

I would love to beta test! I've added specs on your spec quest, and I would be happy to look for glitches. :D I have more time now that school is over and I can commit my time! Hope to work with you guys!

I probably couldn't join beta testing because I will just toy around.

Would love to help make the game better.
'Do you get specific things to test or do you have to make your own "job"? If it´s the first i am in.

Re: New Beta Testers Needed (again)

@makzimuz:
There is always a list of things that need testing (specific things / tasks) from which you can choose freely as long as they are not completed yet. So it is a bit of both: the POMMS system makes it such that both people who want specific tasks get them, and those want to do a bit of everything can do so too.

Re: New Beta Testers Needed (again)

Hey Guys,

I also want to help to make this project more better. I'm able to spend 2-3 hours per week on testing, also on different systems.
Please let me know if you need somebody who look at glitches, userfriendlyness and also some engine stats on current engines of bmw or audi.

Edit:
@Killrob: Ich könnte auch bei der Übersetzung ins Deutsche helfen ;)

I don't know much about programming, but I know a little about engines (I'm studying mechanical engineering) and if you find that I can help somehow I'd like to do whatever I can.

Re: New Beta Testers Needed (again)

Hello,

I am interested in Testing, i dont have that much time at the moment but its greater then 1 hour. I have an ISTQB Certification so i know a little bit about testing and i am a programmer myself. Also I would like to cover the status of the beta with screenshots on raced.de (my racesim newssite) if that is ok.

Best Greetings
Sebastian

Re: New Beta Testers Needed (again)

Hi well-regarded devs!

I would be very happy if you would take me in account as beta-tester!
I can spend up to 2-3 hours a day on this job. Also, I imagine pretty well both physics of engine (espacially diesel ones, it makes me sad that I can`t build 2-stroke diesels in game) and how it works in computer simulation.
And, finally, my current job allows me to test Automation on about 20 of hardware configurations, and, if there will be need in this, run it on several different virtual machines.

So, if you agree to take my helping hand and mouse, I`m on my way!

Re: New Beta Testers Needed (again)

I also want to help as beta-tester
I'm about to finish a degree in mechanical engineering, I'm spanish and there is not much more to add.
I'll be able to test more than 1 hour weekly at ease, contact me if you want help to translate the game into spanish. You won't sell too much here if you don't do so.

I'd be interested in helping you guys out.

I'm interested in Long walks on the beach, late nights out and candle lit dinners.

But quite seriously I'd be quite happy to follow your instructions and write reports, I'm in dire need of a better hobby rather than work and blow money on German cars.

Re: New Beta Testers Needed (again)

I would like to help as a beta-test. I have a little understanding of engines and computer programs.
I can spend 2-4 hours per week to help you!
