Well, the fastest drag racing cars are all rwd, but of course, there completely purpose built for drag racing.

That is because you have more or less zero weight on the front tires in serious drag racing and no corners. As soon as you talk about track racing where you may have to accelerate out of corners, AWD is always superior (in principle).
