"This week" is the estimated date for the launch of the open beta of this update. The public release of this update will be after we set up base in New Zealand, probably some time between the 14th and 18th, could be earlier if there are not too many problems though.

What is the difference between open beta and public release? How can I get access to open beta version?

The open beta version doesn't come via the auto-updater in the launcher, you have to install it manually, i.e. download the patch linked in the forum and go from there. Also, the open beta is not bug-fixed to the same degree as the public launch will be. Of course it has been tested extensively, but still has some quirks and annoyances.

Ok, so open beta is public release for everyone - that's perfect
Previously I misunderstood that beta is available only for the 'chosen' people (like testers)

Well, in the next few days, there will be an "open" beta, which is open to the public. Following the next release, the devs have indicated that there will be a "closed" beta, which is closed to the public, but accessible to a group of testers.
