Re: Car Performance Testing Feedback Thread

Engine manager will allow to delete an engine that is currently in one of your models, the model itself seem to be unaffected. I would have thought in the full game it would no longer be able to be made so:
1 - the game should warn of this
2 - any model that uses the engine is either deleted also or marked as obsolete or historic somehow

Re: Car Performance Testing Feedback Thread

Slightly disappointed at some of the changes made to the body tweak points.
Some parts on the previously available models which could be altered separately are now joined
E.g. the boot lid on the saloon could be move independent of the the bottom to create some interesting angles.
Also you could drag the bottom of the rear window all the way back to create a hatchback look
I assume the latter change is in preparation for body families when there will be a genuine hatch version of this shell so no need to make the saloon look like one

Re: Car Performance Testing Feedback Thread

I'd really like if the bodies shapes could be tweaked more. At least to similar extent than the original 3 bodies were able to. I'm not all that interested in trying to make my cars as fast as possible, I just want to make normal cars and if I make a lot of those, it will quickly start to be boring when all of them look like a VW Golf with different headlights and crazy grille designs. And it really should be possible to add/change fixtures to different models/trim levels of a platform. Also, next time you add bodies, it would be awesome to have at least one example of a very early game body model.

Re: Car Performance Testing Feedback Thread

I really like the new update, you really added alot of good stuff.

What i'm really missing is, once you put engines into the cars, a fuel economy value. I was looking forward alot to tweak around to have a really horried but fuel saving eco box, as well as mid range or sports cars.

At the moment all you can really do is put bigger and bigger engines into the cars, to see which one accelerates quickest and has the highest top speed. A fuel economy value like MPG or Litres / 100 km would be a great addition. Guess it will come in future updates anyway, although i thought it would be included in this one.

Re: Car Performance Testing Feedback Thread

Regarding the body morphing, we got a lot of feedback about all the strange creases and dents that could happen when morphing, and part of fixing that meant tighter limits on how far you can adjust things.

There will be wagon, 2/4 door etc variants of many bodies, so don't worry about having to fake those.

Re: Car Performance Testing Feedback Thread

Really enjoying the new update. You have done a great job. I was a bit disappointed when I lost my models, but they were easily remade. I have one criticism though. Scaling. I don't know a single saloon that is only 1.3m in height and an MPV that looks quite so tall yet only 1.5m tall, like a Ford Fiesta. And the saloon is very short too. Nevertheless, great work. Now for some bigger models :-)

Awesome! Thanks for the tip, deanwells! Now, for the cutouts to work properly, they must stay in the background at all cost, instead of being "forward" as they are now. Example, tail lights that are supposed to be within a cutout area disappear now, since they are located more to the "background" than grilles/cutouts.

One thing that would be nice is the ability to change fixtures and especially fender size within models, so that you can make a sportier version of a platform with more aggressive lines and bigger tires without making a whole new platform and trying to copy the base platform.

Like my Delorian? Goes up to 88 mph in 6 seconds and uses 1.21 GigaWatts of power.

P.S. I'm gonna make a grey model so it looks better.

Re: Car Performance Testing Feedback Thread

I just want to say, amazing update guys! There's just a couple of concerns of mine:
1. The Volkswagen Golf mk1 body seems to be very restrictive on engine size when configured for transverse, I was hoping that a 1.8-2.0L could fit transversely if I used pushrods, but the length seems to be too restrictive.

2. The car bodies seem to be more limiting on what you can do with them, this is acceptable, because you said that creases happen when they're morphed too much anyway.

Those are the only two concerns I had, one of which has been answered.

Great jobs guys, had a lot of fun with the update.

Two bugs i can think of right now; the game crashes if i extend the top speed much past 350mph, every time, and you can put vents on top of grills on top of vents and still get a cooling boost, sometimes exponentially. ie:

As always, excellent. Always leaves your carving for more!

Just one small question, I designed a 2.2 litre engine four cylinder (lighter) and 2.6 litre six cylinder (heavier), yet when I put them in cars (all else equal) the whole car is heavier with the four than with the six.

How is that possible?

You used the same drive type in this situation too? That does sound really strange :)

Yep same everything. Even number of gears and type of gearbox.

Straight sixes seem to produce lighter overall cars than four cylinders, despite being heavier.

Also, while we are at it, changing the body does not affect dimensions or engine bay space or aerodynamics, does it?

Oh and it's slightly annoying to have to flare the wheel arches before actually putting the tyres in.

Other than that top work! :D
