Re: F80 M3 Engine?

Ok, glad everyone thinks its achievable, any suggestions on how to do it?

As you can see from my example in the OP, it has too much power, I'd like to smooth it out a little - less cams? idk, there could be several issues with the engine.

Re: F80 M3 Engine?

Problem is that in reality, the BMW engine manages full torque from 1200 to 5000 rpm. You can't do this in the game (yet). Also, the turbo on the N55 engine is a TwinScroll one, wich is not in the game (yet) :D

Re: F80 M3 Engine?

I'm sure I read somewhere that it will be a new engine possibly based on the existing 6 but not just a modified N55.
It'll be 3 litres and have around 430hp, maybe with the tri-turbo tech from the uber diesel.

See, I just struggle to believe it'll only have an increase in what? 10-15bhp? It'd be the smallest in its history, which is;

E30: 197-217bhp, I4
E36: 282-316bhp, I6 (+85-99bhp)
E46: 338-355bhp, I6 (+39-56bhp)
E90: 414-444bhp, V8 (+76-89bhp)
F30: xxx-xxxbhp, I6t

And with the current M5 at ~560bhp that gives the M3 plenty of room, we could be looking at 500-520bhp, I was trying to be conservative at 450bhp...

Re: F80 M3 Engine?

Well, the M3 (or M4...) Isn't all about power so I think the new one will have between 450-480 bhp tops (my guess...).

Re: F80 M3 Engine?

Nobody has said the obvious so I will: How about that massive amount of lag? Or the, idk, ~20lbs of boost? If I had to guess they were making another I6TT, I'd say it'd be around 3.5L, DI is almost ensured, no more than 12 psi (that's 0.8ish bar), and no lag, especially not one that takes it from 100hp-300hp in a couple hundred RPM.

I know the game doesn't allow you to have twin turbos, so you're not going to replicate the lack of lag accurately, but having 20psi doesn't really help that.

Thanks, I'm new to turbos, so I wasn't sure how to configure it correctly. I might have to wait to see the new M3's engine, and for the game to have twin turbos :/

Re: F80 M3 Engine?

Why not give it a ultimate unleaded fuel and see how high you can get your compression ratio without destroying the whole thing that should free up some bhp mayb try vvt as well so that you can get a big leap of power when you need it with out killing all the torque.

Re: F80 M3 Engine?

Remember all cars nowadays have an ecu which will regulate (lower it usually) the torque to make it flatter and effectively last longer, thats how manufacturers are able to quote xxx Ibft @ xxxx - xxxx RPM. Thats something we can't simulate without tweekable maps (hinthintnudgenudge).

Re: F80 M3 Engine?

id say 430 is easily obtainable with their current 3L inline 6. shit the new mercedes a class is getting 352hp out of a 2L. 172bhp/l not to shabby AMG.
