Re: Group B Rally

I think its sensible to demand a minimum amount of off road capability so its either offf roadd tires or offroad suspension or both

We should do this, otherwise its just a road car race.

Re: Group B Rally

Gave it a go in the unlimited class (see attached)

716.8kw
70.5 reliability (27.6 for engine)
Sportiness is 81.1 but if I decrease real tyres is get ~87 (Even though my high speed cornering g-force drops from 1.5 to 1.4).

Re: Group B Rally

FYI, you shouldn't post power ratings and such (as I learned), kinda ruins it a little.

Actually, that'd be sort of redundant, allow me to explain; Group B also ran on road segments as well. And we don't have any offroad tracks..

...And most race cars had adjustable suspension.

...And you can change the tires/tyres on any sort of car fairly easily. Group B cars ran street tires for rallies on tarmac, and they ran off-road tires when those were preferable.

...And most Group B cars weren't off-road vehicles at all, they were practically just wedge sports cars and hatchbacks with massive turbochargers, 4WD, and a person with serious testicular/ovarian fortitude in the drivers' seat.

So I don't see how forcing a minimum off-road capability adds to the authenticity of the competition at all, collectively all it would do is slow down everyone's times because they'd be sacrificing proper setup to meet an entirely redundant requirement. And then furthermore it'll require some people to just outright not enter, such as myself, and although I am in no way competitive with my current car, I'd still like take part in a competition that isn't saturated with obscure rules.

Re: Group B Rally

Min engine reliability 20 now huh? This changes things!

Now I'll give getting that 1000hp or 1:1 power ratio a crack.

Re: Group B Rally

Sounds good, that's how I roll

Offtopic: There's an AWESOME driving simulator called spintyres... You drive soviet era trucks through the Russian forests logging timber. It has persistent environmental effects, and the entire environment, dirt, mud, trees, lakes, is physics modelled. You can get bogged, tow things, use manual locking diff, destroy trees... It's ridiculous amounts of fun.
