@trackpaduser

That is some excellent work. :D I can't wait to try out the body..I've been wanting a little compact utility type vehicle for a while.

Maybe someone should do an army jeep challenge with an offroady type map when its released.

Re: In the Works Thread

Maybe, although I suggest waiting for more truck bodies. I know for sure that a large 80s truck/pickup as well as a modern suv are both coming in the next update. In addition to that, I will probably keep making bodies, although I'll probably take a short break from modeling once this one is done.

Also, suggestions for those who know how to make fixtures:

Vents that look like hinges, so we can have external door/bonnet/windshield hinges like a lot of cars designed for offroading.

A wing that looks like a light bar.

Also, I don't know if this one is possible, but an external spare wheel could be nice.

Re: In the Works Thread

if you do make a truck variant of the not a samurai/jeep, will you please made the box able to be lengthened so you could make a long box, and short box?

I love your ideas about creating outside fixtures using existing fixture styles, you could get some pretty sweet designs coming with these lol

Re: In the Works Thread

Yes you will be able to, and on both versions too. I am actually modifying the rear bumper so you can have a lot of overhang w/o having the rear bumper look like crap.

Re: In the Works Thread

A further update on the British Wedge I'm working on. (Sorry Conan, no Tansverse I6, automation doesn't have a gearbox in sump or Hydrogas suspension to make enough room in the engine bay)
I've finally got it exported into the game, A big shout out to Trackpaduser for his assistance with my export problems.
I've spent the last few day fettling the shape to fit an automation chassis and to work out some of the more obvious kinks in the bodywork. (It initially looked like someone had jumped on the roof)

No Morphs as yet but here is how it looks in the game (with a marketing shot of the original for comparison) and looking at the pic I realise I've missed off the rear quarterlight window

Re: In the Works Thread

I have to say that it looks really nice.

Also, for morphing, if you want to make sure your straight lines stay straight, you can create a line and use it as a guide, or move your bone so the surface is vertical and use the aliasing as a guide.

And make sure the stamping works across seams. I had some issues with that for some reason.

I do like that car, only there are 2 problems: I dont see a lot of Princess's in The Netherlands :/ and:

*Cough* British Leyland *Cough* Build quality *Cough*

But yes, it could be more, it was technically a pretty modern car: Hydragas suspension, big interior space, good handling.....

Re: In the Works Thread

Finally managed to export the 80s wagon and make it appear in the game.

The mesh still needs work and and there are a few bugs with the materials, and I haven't even got to morphing, but it feels pretty good seeing my car in the game! :D

There's one problem I can't put my finger on though. For some reason I'm not able to add any fixtures with depth on the body. If I use a grille which extrudes into the body, all I see is the frame (which is level with the surface). Same with lights, I see the glass, but not the depth.

PS. that Princess looks awesome! I actually love the styling of several British Leyland cars, especially the SD1.

Re: In the Works Thread

It does feel good when your creation is in game :-)
The fixtures thing is likely to be a mismatch on the materials. Make sure you have assigned material if 7 in 3ds max and that the body lua file had the right projection material order.

Thanks for the comments about the princess

Thanks for the tip. I'll look into the materials when I get back to work.

I like that, but the side mirrors are missing. Will be other body styles?

Thanks! I'll be sure to add side mirrors. When I get the whole thing to properly work, I'll consider adding a sedan version as well.

Re: In the Works Thread

I noticed a lack of a small car in the 1950s so here's a preview of my attempt to fill that hole.

It will have a wheelbase of about 2 meters, so roughly the size of the previous 1940s small car, probably narrower, as was the RL inspiration. (who can guess what that was?)
