Akina/Haruna Downhill

I've been wanting to create the Akina touge from Initial D with the track creator, and the cool thing is, apparently it really exists, as Haruna touge.
Problem is, I got the shape of the curves now with the map, but not the decline/incline of every segment :?
Does anyone have an idea how I could fix that? Or where I could harvest track data of it and how?

Google Image search produced this. It doesn't have measurements or grades on it, but it should give you a place to start! Looks like all -5 to me! hahaha (steep downhill slope)

Re: Akina/Haruna touge...help?

I remember this road from Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift 2... it's actually relatively easy compared to just about every other course! However, I'd say the grade of the course was quite mild most of the time. Nothing really stood out to me as being steep besides one or two sections. I think it was around checkpoint 2 (in either direction) that was a little steep, but I could be wrong.

Re: Akina/Haruna touge...help?

Thanks for the help guys!

I did a first attempt to recreate it, but...I read too late that the image size has to be 1280x720, I took 800x600, by result that it's offset in the y-axis :(
I'll just take it that it's fate's way to say that my first attempt was shitty and that I gotta try again. I'll try to put more of a raceline into it now too.
I got the hang of it now, so I hope it'll be faster.

This is what I had:
Image
note: I overlayed the traject image of the downhill with a shot of the real thing, the photograph was taken at an angle, so I had trouble overlaying it, but I think it turned out pretty well except for the last bit.

Possibly I'll do a Initial D styled challenge for it when it's finished :P

Edit: Also, thanks to google Earth I was able to determine that the average slope is -5.5%, thanks for the 5% tip Cobalt, I used it on my first attempt :)

Re: Akina/Haruna touge...help?

A tournament would be wicked!!!

Can we have an open division within that tournament pretty please? Even if it means requiring at least 0 quality advanced safety? My company cars don't have any competition because all these tournaments are for budget lite sports this and that which I understand is more in the spirit of the game... but my flights of fancy were practically purpose built for things like touge ;_;

Errr, sure, I'll put in an unlimited class next to the heavy restrictions I'm planning for the Initial D styled one

Technically it doesn't go out of place for Initial D style with an unlimited class... considering one team stated they used what was basically a full on race car to set a time trial record on their home course.

Well, what's a full on racecar still is controversial, since FIA has strict regulations too .

The restrictions I was thinking of for the Initial D style class:
Year limit: '85 - '00

Engine restrictions:
-80 manhours
-1600$

power to weight ratio restrictions:
AWD: 280 BHP/tonne for NA
310 BHP/tonne for turbo
RWD/FWD: 300 BHP/tonne for NA
330 BHP/tonne for turbo
(I have based these on the cars in Initial D, which were quite modest in power (I believe Ryosuke's Rx7 only had 350-400 bhp, and Takumi's AE86 had approx 200-250 hp)

Fuel: premium unleaded

Interior:
-ultra light
-atleast basic entertainment (they were sort of daily drives too)
-atleast standard safety

Chassis:
-No aluminium or carbon on chassis allowed
(body panels can make use of aluminium and carbon)

Tyres:
-Semi slicks
-Max 265 mm wide

Downforce:
Max 100kg @ 200kph
To Strop: Try to keep it at max 4-6 wings/lips

And ofcourse all quality sliders on 0 for platform and model

I'm considering to put a torque limit too, to prevent these ridiculous "yeah, I'm allowed to only have 350 HP, so I have 345 hp from 5000 rpm to 8000 rpm"

And Unlimited class, well yeah, go crazy.

More importantly, it's finished!
It all works fine...except that the y-axis still is off at the end, but this time it doesnt seem to be my fault :? It all matches up on the track editor with right image size.

Oh come on man, I'm not the only one who does this xD But yay infamy!

Also I don't think my company actually builds any cars that fits the original spec ;_; but I could always put one together just for the sake of being part of something this ridiculously awesome.

Re: Akina/Haruna Downhill

two things.
1. An uphill course would be great too. Can you just somehow flip the track?

2. I just built a bitching S15, which does downhill in 301,56 with a SR20DET with a stroker kit and a bigger turbo. So come at me, guys!!!

Re: Akina/Haruna Downhill

I can just flip it, but that'd mean hours in the text copy pasting and editing everything, since the order is upside down too then

Also, not bad! Glad to see a S15 replica here.

My current best is 296.47 (or 4:56:47) with a lightly modified version of a car I made:

Re: Akina/Haruna Downhill

Okay, I can't resist entering something to the unlimited class. Making something that suits the Initial D class would be lots of fun but sadly I don't quite have the time to do that yet.

Naturally, I'd like to run the Nightfury TDS. This is the road-legal model, road-tyres, 98RON, no race parts car with a whopping track aero and suspension setup. The technical specs can be viewed here. I decided to run the car as is, without any track-specific tuning.

HarunaNightfuryTDS.png
It also breaks 240km/h on several occasions, so scary.

Thus the official time stands at 4:09.53.

Though the following isn't official and is more for interest, if you put semi-slicks on the TDS, it puts out a 4:05. Optimising the gear ratios for lower end acceleration shaves of 2/10ths, though I can't get any more than that due to wheelspin (with the traction control on!!!) The even more powerful prototype from which the TDS came, which has a 1kw:1kg ratio, has all racing parts and body completely stripped, could only manage a 4:06, thus confirming that there is such a thing as way too much power for downhill, but then again, anyone who read/watched Initial D would have already said the same thing of the TDS version :P
