Due to complaints about the cabin, especially the rear seats, having too little space, the car was once again lengthened to increase cabin space. The car now also has from Double wishbone suspension so that larger tires could be used on the front axle.
All trims now have a semi clad undertray and every engine features VoltJect fuel injections, a fuel injection system made by Kungliga Automobilfabriken and introduced in 1986. ABS brakes and power steering is standard equipment for all trims.
The V6 engine in the MB350 was supposed to use a carburetor even in the 6th gen MB but it was fitted with a VoltJect system to increase efficiency and power and to avoid being known as one of the few European car manufacturers that still used carburetors.
Production was scheduled to cease in 1998
