Komodo Engine Corp - Foregoing Kei-car market?

the time is 1945. The homeland of the founding fathers of Komodo, Benjamin Wijaya, Indonesia, has just declared Independence on the 17th of august.

Indonesia was under the colonization of Dutch up until 1942 when the Japanese came and took over the nation. up until 1945 the japanese was making attempts to steal the people's heart and was trying to farm the talents of people from Indonesia for the importance of fighting the world war. Benjamin was of those people taken to japan to work on war engines for the Japanese Imperial.

But now. the Japanese has surrendered. the country is in ruin. the markets are bleak. the peoples are sad, poor and homeless.
meanwhile Benjamin was dismissed due to the war being over, and are stuck there without a way to go home, and without a job.

with only the experience and knowledge of the things he knows best, and the money left from the actually pretty good paying job from making engines for the war.

our founding father scrambled to contact other dismissed engineer and work together to make a small engine manufacturing shop.

and this is where the legacy of Komodo Corp started. :)

this is my first try of roleplaying. and english is not my first languages. so review and critics are very welcomed

Re: Komodo Engine Corp

it's 1947. the engine is ready to be sold

It was tedious, it was hard work, it was nonstop headache. because we had to design the engine around the parts that already existed, and not the other way around. to cut on cost and engineering time.

lost of the components were from motorcycle engines and war surplus parts. the pistons, the valve parts, the conrods, the carb, and other small pieces. mostly were from off the shelves parts

it is not designed to be used for automotive use. it's an all-purpose engine.
like in smaller tractors for farms, for a generator set powering a small village, for the power unit powering a workshop and other utilities.

because the design are so simple, it's easy to maintain, cheap to run, require little to no maintenance per year.
yet easy to modify in case more power are demanded. just increasing the rev limiter by 800RPM gives 0.5 more HP

it is meant to steadily makes adequate power while giving the best economy at around half throttle.

but in the end, this is just a quick and dirty way to make money for the next engine, ASAP. since this engine relies on war surplus, which are running out quick.

but hey. there's rumors the government are doing something about it soon. lets just hope that this is true. :)

Re: Komodo Engine Corp

1948

with the early sale of the Ko1-400 engine. although very few sold, the sales are just barely enough to encourage the development of an independent engine.
with the little money our first engine brought to us, it was just enough to buy slightly better tooling for the production of our engines.

we now are able to make some parts of the engine in-house. our shopping list for the parts to build the engine are decreasing, which means we now have better control for the parts that we are building.

and so we decided to improve what engine we have now.

we are officially selling the Ko1-500, replacing the earlier 400 Variant

we have bored up our original 400 variant. but because of the better tooling and production management.
the engine are now more durable, makes more power, but still retain the same amount of fuel consumption

and the power improvement are not exactly small either.

also better news. it seem the rumors were true.
the government announced that in order to get the people back up and, to get the economy of nation back to what it used to be.
they are making a new class category the 'cheap car' class. also known as the 'kei car'. a class of cars that is super small, economic to buy and run, also gets a big tax cut.
encouraging the people to buy more cars. which is also good news for us, as it will open up a whole new market for us in the future.

there's just 1 hitch...... the engine size limit is only 100cc for 2 stroke engines, and 150cc for 4 strokes. which is waaaaayyyyy too small to be viable for us now.

Re: Komodo Engine Corp- Emerging Kei-car Era

1951

the engine are selling surprisingly well in the class. but still lower than hoped.
meanwhile, the kei car market is starting to see quite a market. it might be bigger than what we thought it would be.

this might be a good opportunity for us too. this might be the time to start involving ourselves in the car market. not making the car itself maybe.
selling engines to smaller manufacturers willing to compete with cheaper outsourced engines, or if we found a suitable alliance, actually built the whole car, with us designing and making the engine and other smaller mechanism.

but we will have to see. since, when the class was introduced, many are saying the engines are just plainly too small and doesnt have enough power.
last year the government announced an increase in maximum capacity to 300cc 4 strokes and 200cc 2 strokes. but, still too small, and a lot of complaint are still heard.

this year, the government announced another increase to 360cc 4stroke and 240cc 2 stroke. there might another possible capacity increase allowed soon. but at this point, 360cc engine already at the point where it's making reasonable and usable power.

next year, or the year after, we will launch something again.

you just have to wait and see

it's been 4 years since the last major news.

in the last 4 years, we are finally be able to fully produce our engines in-house further increasing reliability, reduction cost of production, lower fuel consumption while getting more power.

the last refresh of the engine was released late last year.

here were the stats of said engine

now to the more exciting news.
with much internal conflict and dispute over this, we have and easily agreed that we WILL expand the company to the automotive segment
but which segment of car will we be entering in?

on the last news we are very excited about the kei-car market booming and it will be a good chance for us. but upon further discussion, we simply don't have enough resources to built an entire car by ourselves. and more likely than not, our first car might have to be a result of a partnership, with us providing the engine and the final tuning. but the decision will be finalized on the next news
