Rover V8 Replica

Hi everyone, I thought that some of you may be interested in replicating the legendary and iconic Rover V8.

Originally designed as the Buick 215 this small-block V8 first appeared in the 1961 GM line-up but was not well received owing to the cost of the all aluminium construction and various production problems. As a result GM production ceased 2 years later. The most powerful version produced during this time produced 318 ft/lb of torque and 200 bhp. At around the same time Rover cars were looking to replace their aging 3-litre straight-6 and, as fete would have it, their North American executive had come across the Buick engine on a factory visit. Rover acquired all rights to the engine in 1965 and set about redesigning some of the problematic production methods. The first vehicle to use this Rover version of the engine would be the 1967 Rover P5B and would go on to power the company's P6 and SD1 saloons as well as other models from other British manufacturers such as MG, Land Rover, Triumph, TVR, Marcos and Bowler. The engine remained in production until the Rover company went bust in 2005, the Land Rover Discovery Series II being the last production model to be fitted with a 4.6 Litre version of the engine. The original Buick 215 Cubic Inch of 1961 and 3528cc Rover unit of 1967 had, by the dawn of the third millennium, expanded to 5.0 litres in the hands of TVR.
