The cast iron 2.1 liter inline 4 used in the
1983 Criado. A new addition to Midgård Cars' engine lineup. We decided to abandon our old 2.4 liter I4 and use this, since front wheel drive is a thing now and the big I4 we have would probably not fit in a transverse position. The biggest change, other than reduced displacement is that it uses a DOHC instead of the old SOHC and we make several different engines out of this engine block (1.8L and 1.5L) so it can be adapted for performance or fuel economy. Cheap to produce and maintain. Also comes with a three way catalytic converter and runs on regular unleaded fuel.
Internals: cast iron crank, I beam steel conrods and forged pistons
Valvetrain & dimensions: DOHC 4 valves/cylinder and 87.5/87.0mm bore/stroke.
Fuel system & fuel mixture: 4 barrel single carb, 14.0:1.
Compression & redline: 9.0:1 and 7100 RPM
Header and exhaust: tubular header, single 2” exhaust.
1.8L version of the engine. Reduced bore & stroke for better fuel economy.

1.5L version of the engine. Even more reduced bore & stroke for EVEN BETTER fuel economy.

Turbocharged version of the 2.1L engine. Valhall Performance squeezed out 203 hp from it with the help of high quality parts and fuel injection.

Fuel system & fuel mixture: mechanical fuel injection w/ single throttle body, 13.2:1.
Turbo: single ball bearing turbo w/ 49.5mm compressor, 54mm turbine, 0.63 AR ratio and max pressure of 0.7 bar.
Compression & redline: 8.2:1 and 7200 RPM
Header and exhaust: short cast header, single 2.5” exhaust.
