More is most certainly possible, even than what I got here. Here's a quick engine I threw together. I am assuming you mean 2014, not 2020?

Nice engine dude! maybe if I change the bore and stroke, it will be better and yeah 2014 the default time.

Re: Challenge - Most powerful 2L I4

Well, I twiddled with the engine designer, and I'm pretty sure this is getting towards the limit now, if it's not there already:

p.s. Engine's real MTBF is 50503km. I built it from the previous platform of another engine that had previously been saved with an MTBF of 0, but put it in any car with sufficient cooling and that's the figure!

Cheers!

This exercise taught me a bit about the optimum ratio of turbine/compressor diameter.

Whoa... Wait you have that much power with a converter?

In certain engines, a cat. converter can actually help the engine. However, I don't know if this is a phenomenon only found in the game, or on real engines as well.

Re: Challenge - Most powerful 2L I4

Nah in this case the cat converter makes no difference, mainly because it's a high flow 3 way cat attached to an engine with optimised air flow (in these situations it makes no difference). Though as Jakgoe says, sometimes the cat converter helps... in those situations I suspect one should consider reducing the exhaust diameter though.

Re: Challenge - Most powerful 2L I4

9/10 of my engines use baffled mufflers just for that reason , but for this turbo I'm at the largest sized pipe with no restrictions as that's how it got the best power
