Boost!

not sure if this is the right place since it is pseudo off topic.. admins please move thread if needed

i was wondering what production turbo engine is running the highest amount of boost?

the biggest amount i've found is 26 PSI/1,77 Bar in the M133 used in the Mercedes A Class AMG

Re: Boost!

Doesn't make sense to take diesels into consideration, as more boost = better for them. That's Apples vs. Oranges.

Re: Boost!

Makes perfect sense.. I am simply curious regarding boost levels of production cars, there's naturally there's a difference between diesel and petrol.. That just leaves two answers to be uncovered instead of one..

Re: Boost!

as a rule diesels have more boost then petrol engines because as Killrob mentioned diesels have even better efficiency under massive amounts of boost

Re: Boost!

The VW 1.4 TSI motors run 21psi supposedly (note that you have to subtract 1 bar from any figure they quote, as they quote them in absolute manifold pressure, not boost)

boost is boost, there is no other explanation for it, diesels just get more out of the same amounts of boost
