Re: Showoff your ecoboxes!

Best I could do:
29.58% From a 1.8L DOHC Turbo I4 which makes a pathetically small 113hp, takes 1464 man hours to make and costs $3762.46. In other words completely useless for everything apart from economy. :D

Re: Showoff your ecoboxes!

Yeah ok, but check also the octane value and the gasoline used, not only man hours, cost or service cost. Who is going to buy an ecobox that needs high expensive/high octane gasoline to run (same for a high expensive engine, or an engine that needs 2000$/year service)? I don't think this makes sense :P

This is my little baby:

Image

A 1400 cc for B and C segment (small and medium cars), putting out 110 hp but still very cheap on the fuel side and very driveable (almost flat torque curve, it's giving 120 Nm at 1200 rpm and then torque never goes under 125 Nm, up to the limiter). It could give some more power, but then it's losing on the lifespan. Torque and efficiency could be higher but with a worse torque curve.

This could work also as a high power engine, with a bigger exhaust and some tweaking it goes over 150 hp, still staying around 29-30% fuel efficiency and keeping 95 RON gasoline. :D

Here's my "premium" ecobox engine :P

It's a bit bigger than your usual engine, so good for an eco-sedan maybe?

Re: Showoff your ecoboxes!

Im... almost proud of this pair. Worked out far better then I thought it would.

For both I was trying to go for both good consumer side fuel eco and production side manufacturing eco. I think both would work, but I didn't like having to move to a higher octane fuel for the turbo :/

Re: Showoff your ecoboxes!

My "eco"box :o

Tried to (re)make that "Marine Engine" another one did earlier. :)
Could fiddle a bit more on this, but I got bored atm. Was nearly at 1900NM mark at some point fiddeling, but the "eco" wasn't good then. :p

Start game in window-mode, instead of full screen. Then press print screen, and paste it to i.e. Paint. Thats how I do it. Then you'll se the graph and all, instead of just the pic of the engine itself. :)

Here's my contribution to the prohibitively-expensive/stupid class of economotors: Almost 50% efficient!
