Spaceframe Chassis Render

Huzzah! After about 5hrs of fighting with fiddly little tubes, here is the spaceframe chassis.

Spaceframe chassis are made from a network of steel tubes, they're possible to build very light and stiff, but can only really be handbuilt.

You'd probably most often use them for low volume sports cars and supercars.

Looks great, love the work.
Like the details of this "Tubolare" chassis.

Could also be handy if you want to create a lightweight offroad buggy.

A8 was monocoque based on spaceframe principles

Aluminium space frames look a lot different and are made from stampings/extrusions rather than tubes.

Will we be able to weld our own space frames together in the game or would they need to be made outside of it in modelling software?

Good question,i was thinking the same myself....i reckon an in game builder would be decent so that we can make our own chassis..obviously have a couple of preset designs for,em well...for noobs lol..but on top of that a builder which ( in my mind remember ) works like how u woulda build a rollercoaster in the old RCT games....except not making a track making a frame...would be great fun and add a lot of life 2 game.not that it will be short of that...plus i really wanna make sum kind of caterham with a high revving 4cyl turbo engine...hayabusa style...oh and four seats :) why? because i can!...i dunno if you guys have thot about this or will impliment it.i have alot of ideas i just suck at putting them into words or sum1 else has already sed it :) i hope this easy 2 picture in your head, and thanks for the time..

In modeling software definatly!

I can tell you it really was quite annoying putting that together tube by tube, and really wouldn't be fun at all to do as part of the game :P

What do you think it is like to build one in real life? haha From experience building roll cages, I can tell you it is very time consuming, especially to do right.
