Replacing The Altezza

So, I'm planing to replace my Altezza soon, and I am currently looking at alternatives.

My Current Shortlist is

- Honda Civic EK9 Type R (Seen one Local, but is ND$9,000)

- Nissan 240sx/180sx S13 Hatch. (Not many local, but some around country)

- Nissan S14/S15 (Many Local)

- Peugeot of some kind (many Local)

- Subaru Impreza. (far too many Local)

My Current budget, looking at similar Altezza's to mine, is ~NZ$7,000, but it may be more or less depending on the state of my car, and how much I get from working (Once I pick up a job)

I was wondering if any of you guys had any alternatives that are cheap and reliable, and Manual.

Re: Replacing The Altezza

I live in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Similar Vehicles to Australia, but many Japan-limited vehicles.

Also, is very easy to get a car from anywhere in the country. 2-3 day trip from top to bottom, so about 2-2.5 day trip to Auckland from Christchurch. VERY easy to transport cars.

Re: Replacing The Altezza

Out of what you've said I'd say S15, because look at it.

Otherwise the Impreza, or if I was being biased how much are Celica GT4s going for?

NA Nissan 300zx z32 is in your price range, not sure if that's to big for you though.

Gt4's are going for around 8-11k, so the cheaper (But not so good ones) are in my price range.

The main issue with the 300zx is that it is a little too big for me, as it's around the same length and width as my Altezza, and she's a bit too big for a student.

Also, Extra note, I don't really want to have to go over 10k.
So that EK9 is very near my maximum.

Another Extra note, It needs to be somewhat usable for a student, but still be cool for a petrolhead like me.

That one's automatic, but if you can find a manual you would be buying one of my dream rides.

Re: Replacing The Altezza

Can't praise the 4AGE engine enough, have had 2 MR2 mk1 with that, and the feel of that engine is fantastic. Yes, it is a bit underpowered on the straights compared to the s14/15 but the response when in turns is beoynd great, it's fantastic! You could also have a look at a MR2 mk2 ofc, great handling on those!

If you go for a silvertop Sprinter, I will be extremely jealous. It's a car I have always, always wanted to try out.

It is Japan Exclusive, after all! If you disregard the countless Cavaliers with nothing more than a different badge and the steering wheel being on the other side that are kept running by those who hate cars here in the states...
