My 1983 Ford Capri (Yes another one!)

Seems there is a few owners on here after a look around.

I have a 1983 Ford Capri 2.8i that I thought I would share, I bought it back in January 2005 as my first car about 5 months before passing my driving test, had great fun in it.

Some pics from way back then-

To cut a long story short it was taken off the road back in October 2009 as corrosion was starting to set in, but was not severe & a minor bump meaning it needed 3 new panels was a push to do something about it. The car sat for close to 2 years collecting bird poo until I got space to work on it.

Finally got it under a roof to work on it-

Then work began-

Then bits got removed-

Image

Then bits got cut out  (just some of many!) -

Then bits got replaced :D -

Until the corrosion was all gone!

Then I got carried away-

Image

And started stripping & painting everything -

Bits got shiny-

Bits got zinc plated -

Image

And everything got very clean -

Image

Then something more serious arrived-

Image

This caused other bits to get larger & stiffer (ooo-errr!) -

Image

Some head scratching got done-

Image

The lifting began-

Image

Some polishing got done-

Image

More welding got done-

Image

Memories of the good old days, when things had pushrods -

Image

Now due to the moving in of three extra camshafts and their 12 additional valve friends there is no more space for poor Mr Battery -

The story will continue...................

What is this, the hoonicorn? I think the list of non replaced parts would be shorter

Hey mate, another capripower member here! ;)
Funny that I see your post here, our capri history is almost identical, Capri was the first car (though mine was 2007!) Now undergoing a 24v conversion! Will have to sort a meet up when they are all done :D
