I had a Toyota Soarer UZZ32 'Active' for a bit. One of 873 ever made.

Its a V8 Toyota Soarer with very clear Active suspension, four wheel steering and just about every other gadget you could imagine.

£80k New in 1991 money and I bought it for £600 in 2011, rare clearly doesn't necessarily always mean valueable

In short I sold it pretty soon after buying it. It was just as thirsty as the Twin Turbo it replaced but about 3 seconds slower to 60. As comfortable it was to drive it had to go!

I haven't owned any really rare cars, but a couple of semi-rare-ish versions of otherwise mundane cars. The 2.2l Astra Sport is something that I certainly haven't seen anywhere before, and until recently didn't even know you could get an Astra with almost 150 horsepower. It feels a bit weird to say that my rarest car is an Astra when I can see maybe 5 Astras every day just by driving around the neighbourhood, but with that engine and some minor cosmetic enhancements and a gigantic Remus tailpipe... well, it's something a bit different I suppose.

My rarest Car was a VW Golf 2 GTI EditionOne (~11k build) with 4 Doors (~3,5k build) and tow hitch from factory (~ 1 build) :D
Sadly I sold it because I wanted to try something different. My god I miss this car. Sold it for 4000 € in 2010.

My daily Driver is also somekind of rare: BMW E30 318is from 1989.

i currently own a 1983 2,3 liter Ford Capri MkIII. The Capri was not very rare, but my 2,3 liter was one of a few thousand made with a custom interior and some other small stuff.
Here it is: Image

I have one of those cars that are common world wide but extremely uncommon in my country. R32 Skyline GTS-T, probably one of two or 3 in my tristate area (utah, arizona, nevada). I have not seen another one and I go to many import meets.

I used to own an Alfa GTV6. It was one of only two Alfa Romeos I had seen up to the point of buying it and i've never seen a GTV6 before or since. Probably another car that is common overseas but rare here?

I imagine there can't be more than maybe one of these in the whole of USA :P.
1971 VH Valiant Charger 770, Metallic Burgundy with the most comfy bucket seats you have ever sat in, if only they weren't vinyl.

I actually don't have any photos of mine ATM which is sad but I drove it to work everyday for two years before work got me a work ute. I don't know how many there are here in Australia but when people stop you down the street offering to buy it from you it can't be that common.

Wikipedia to the rescue, this one is 5 years newer than mine but there's not too much difference, mine doesn't have the stripe down the side, the rear lights have vertical stripes rather than horizontal and the bar where it says Charger is Silver on mine rather than black. Same colour and vinyl though.

My silver 84 Buick T-Type w/T-tops is one of 2800 made that year.
The Harley is unique only in the factory paint - only seen this paint on a handful of Harleys..
The 87 t-type is not rare but you don't see them every day..

This might be the rarest car on earth!!!!! Anti-gravity car FTW!! ;)

(Sorry, I simply could not resist...)

Back on the topic's question...

This obviously isn't a picture of the one I owned, but I had a rare car when I was stationed in 29 Palms, California in the Marine Corps (long before anyone had ever thought of digital photography). It was one of 6360 cars. 1982 Indy Pace Car Camaro Z28. Mine was not in nearly this condition as it was about 9 years old surviving the nasty California Desert), but it was a nice car, and it actually had a lot of power for a factory 3rd Gen Z28, especially since it was one of the first years to have an ECM. It was even better after I swapped in a 4 bolt main 350 and ditched the 305. :P
