MY98 Subaru Impreza Gtt

This is my ride, decat 3" turboback system , removed airfilter restriction, BOV an upgraded front brakes to WRX brakes.
Stock power is 211 hp but I haven't dyno'd the car yet so I don't know what kind of power it's making at the moment.

I love these Subbies. They are amazing and I think really good looking. Sure the newer ones are great too, but this has this special 90s feeling that I really like in cars (90s my favourite era)

Nice car, love 90's Japanese cars. I am assuming a GT is a stripped down WRX with a baby turbo? Here in Aus I think WRX was always the base turbo model and then special editions and STI were the upgrades. I wonder how much hardware your GT shares with WRX?

Re: MY98 Subaru Impreza Gtt

They're more or less the same as a WRX, apart from a smaller TD04 turbo ( pro: boost is on at 2.500rpm. con: out of boost at 5.500rpm. ) ,
cams are a bit lazier too compared to wrx and the stock front brakes are 2 pot's , mine are already replaced with newer 4 pot front brakes from a newer model WRX.
The gearbox has a longer ratio and if i'm correct the injectors are 380cc on both.

But basicly every mod for a wrx also works on a gtt and most of the time a remap, decat and better front brakes make it as fast as a stock wrx.
Around 270 bhp is what these mods tend to give. Changing to a larger turbo like a td05 18 makes 300+ possible but at 300-350 bhp the gearbox becomes a weak link because of the longer ratio so no need to run more than 300 on a stock tranny.

Daft question, do the big exhausts really help these engines out? I can't remember the last time I saw an Impreza with the standard exhaust.

Imprezas with exhausts that I can stick my head in are far too common in England, presumably the same for the rest of Europe.
The Impreza is a great car and all for what it's worth, but the people who drive them are often annoying chavs and honestly I'm quite happy that Subaru isn't selling them in the UK anymore. But I'm sure that the original poster isn't that kind of Impreza driver.

Re: MY98 Subaru Impreza Gtt

The exhaust helped alot in terms of turbo spool and top end power, yes it was a big exhaust but it was cheap as I bought it 2nd hand. I have to be honest and say I didn't like the look of it but for me it was more a performance upgrade rather than looks.

These cars tend to make you a chav driver indeed... atleast in the beginning, after a few tickets you learn your lesson.
I sold the car a few weeks ago as someone made me an offer i couldn't refuse.
I now bought a econobox Lancia Ypsilon because i want tot start saving up for a house.
I want to buy a project car in the future tough. I like the older toyota corolla KE70.
