it looks so familiar to me... is it a ford of some type maybe?

Nissan Z31? (I don't know Z31 models)

Cibie headlights make me think French, but the indicator placement, errr, Renault Alpine GTA Le Mans?

I know that's probably not it, but the windows, roofline and door handles look a lot like a GAZ Volga.
