I don't know if this is a bug or the description wasn't actually made yet, but trying to read the Hand-Made Interior description just ended up with this:

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

All my scenarios and new cars get this error:
---------------------------
Lua Error:
---------------------------
tolua++ dbcall failed!: [string "--SANDBOX_DATA\CEngineCalculator_Engineering...."]:32: attempt to index local 'engineering' (a nil value)

You can CTRL+C on this to report it.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
My game was fine before the update.

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

Finished going through to find the new feature unlock dates - there may be anomalies in there I missed, but here are the ones I found:

  • Magnesium unlocks as a Rim Material in 1961 before Alloy.
  • Advanced 60s Safety unlocks in 1961, not 1960.
  • Standard 90s Safety unlocks in 1994, not 1995.
  • Is Infotainment supposed to unlock for all levels of entertainment year by year, 2010-2013? (This might be intended - Moore's Law, after all.)
  • Luxury HUD unlocks in 2017, but Luxury Infotainment is still available.
  • Ditto, Premium in 2019.
  • Traction Control as an option separate from Electronic Stability is missing. (Are they merged? That would make sense.)
  • Is Geared LSD supposed to come before Viscous LSD? (Current years are 1981 and 1985, respectively.)

You now need to use EFI to gain access to Traction Control.

Got this when trying to make a 1955 V12. This was when I attempted to go to the engine testing screen

EDIT: 3 Valve per cylinder SOHC V12s are visually bugged, the lettering is just red blocks.

Aha! Thanks - I'll update the feature unlock list shortly. [edit: done]

I got the exact same error, and I think I figured out the cause: it happens when the engine revs too far past what the valves can handle. Attached is a test engine I build to demonstrate this; if you crank the RPMs up from 4000 to 4100, the error occurs.

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

I'm not too worried about all this. It's beta, and these are big problems that should be easy to fix.

Another one is that DCOE twin and single carb setups do not render on V12s for me.
Anyone have the same problem?

EDIT: I think short cast headers and tubular headers for V12s models are switched.
Anyone else think so? The short cast headers just look so much smoother and shinier.

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

- In the drivetrain tutorial, it talks about RWD, FWD, AWD, then Killrob's voice says "For partial AWD cars..." and cuts off as the tutorial closes.

- Clicking on the "Close" button while a tutorial is running clicks through the tutorial window and affect the UI behind it. So the Close button works, but it simultaneously switches to another tab, depending on what part of the Close button I clicked on.

Was trying to make a vehicle in 1940 with an inline 6 everything was set at quality +0 except for model (at -5) and aero (at +2). Wouldn't calculate any results and gave me that error code.

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

I noticed that the lua error KlockWurx and some other people mentioned earlier actually happens only with cars that have ladder chassis. I tried to build a '60s sedan with ladder chassis, everything was going well, but upon getting to the results tab I got the aforementioned error and nothing happened. But when I changed chassis to monocoque it miraculously calculated everything.

Also on my part... I have a problem with engines created before the update, some of them are just not loading at all. It just shows an error stating:
"--SANDBOX_DATA\CEngineCalculator_PartsManagem..."]:138: attempt to call method 'GetPartIndex' (a nil value)
and it pretty much freezes the game. I also noticed that most of the engines affected by that error are V8s. Are those lost forever?

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

Hi guys. I've had issues with a couple of ladder chassis cars as well, for some reason.(LUA error 97 and a couple of others; one car I just made won't even load at all.) Haven't tried monocoque yet, though, and hopefully those still work.

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

TracpadUser and I were playing with the Open beta, and I comments to him that I was getting engine calc errors, which he was not, so we scienced for a little.

All engines will throw a Lua Error

Image

We were able to reproduce and replicate that error on every engine configuration with excessive valve float, (which is very easy to do in earlier years when building an engine)

Simple version:
If you build an engine and put the final part on it in the engine builder, if the engine has excessive valve float, the game will trigger the engine calc lua error.
Image
Which will cause people who are un aware to report the error as being unable to finish production of an engine. (particularly early push rod engines)

This error can be reproduced using any engine configuration, even DOHC 5v in 2020, by setting the cam profile down, and setting the redline high. It will trigger every time the engine passes the excessive valve float speed, but normal calculations will resume if you drop the engine reline back below that point.

Thanks for reading.

Edit: Can Confirm Error when attempting to build a Ladder frame vehicle.
