That doesn't sound like it's a healthy install at all. Can you try to "Verify Game Cache" in your library, right click Automation, Properties, Local Files?

Alright , I successfully validated the game.

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

I validated the game and mods are completely not working still.
Is there any other help I can get or am I just fucked for now?

Edit: Fixed. Reinstalled every mod and repeated validation.

Mods are outside of our influence. What kind of mods are not working?

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

Is there a recommended procedure for completely wiping any traces of old Automation data?

For the last few versions I get errors every time I try to make a turbocharged engine, but I'm pretty sure this is from some version conflict that I haven't figured out how to resolve.

I am getting a "[string "--shared\functional\math.lua..."]:97: attempt to index local 'value' (a nil value)" Lua error when designing ladder-framed cars. It appears to be linked to all materials except the AHS steel ladder frames

A small bug: the cam lobes are missing on one side in the DOHC V12 engine.

me too, also no sound

edit: I do have sound when using an external usb soundcard. With the onboard card and my headphones no sound

edit2: test track doesn't work --> it does, but loading takes ages and shifting moments are odd..

Lua error when putting double exhausts on a v12 with two baffled exhausts.

Game ending bug, game nonfunctional after. Every button just triggers the same error message after it first happens.

Also, no sound at all for me either.

Got something similar, I think it actually has to do with pushrod valves. Oddly it went away when I went to screw with the ladder bug and went back to mess with the engine
The game still is functional for bug testing, you just have to keep switching items and accepting the error message until you find the component causing the trouble

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

Besides some bugs already reported, it's working great! :D

I will suggest to revamp the descriptions in the interior tab, some descriptions on the interior, entertainment and safety, don't fit in the pop-up box...

Also, and i know it's not an important feature right now, but, the descriptions of the interior/entertainment/ in the cars above 2010's need to be revamped imo...

Basic interior - front electric windows used, simple cabin light, doors partially covered with plastic/cloth, floor covered with hard carpet...
Standard interior - front and rear electric windows and mirrors, better cabin light, lightened glove box, USB plugs...
Standard Entertainment - already built-in basic radio touchscreen MP3 and USB connection, with free hands mobile connectivity, manual air conditioning...
Basic Safety - include dual smart airbags, auto locking doors, emergency stop signal ...
Standard Safety - add the cruise control, automatic lights, automatic windscreen wipers...
Advance Safety - add automatic braking system...

Probably much more to add, but you get the idea!

Keep up the great work guys! :)

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

Also had something similar to that when messing with DOHC. Seems to me that there's some consistency, but I've not yet found the culprit. Was getting it trying to make a 1955 V12 for a luxury car, large displacement, low power. Had selected dual exhaust, no catalytic (leaded gas), and two Reverse Flow mufflers and it hit pretty hard.

Combined with the ladder frame bug, it makes building old cars rather very difficult. Still, this is why it's a beta test, so time to start messing around to try finding what combinations return an error.

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

It looks like the colors on the Engineering Time display for the Engine Designer are backwards - it's showing green with more time and red with less.

Also, I've been trying to calculate all the new Feature Unlock dates and found a host of irregularities that way:

  • Pushrod front suspension seems to be available starting in 1940. Guessing it's not supposed to be until 1990.
  • When changing year from before 1962 to 1962 or later with no Drive Type selected, the game seems to remember which row in the Engine Placement was selected instead of which option. Because Front Transverse is added to the first row, this usually changes the engine placement selection.
  • A similar error occurs with the introduction of V6s in 1960; attached screenshot shows what happens when V8 was selected in 1960 and the year moved back to 1959.

  • There also seem to be a lot of errors in the Engine Creator when an option is selected and the year is changed to before the option is available.
      Code:
    ---------------------------
    Lua Error:
    ---------------------------
tolua++ dbcall failed!: [string "--SANDBOX_DATA\CEngineCalculator_PartsManagem..."]:290: attempt to call method 'GetPartIndex' (a nil value)

You can CTRL+C on this to report it.
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

The above is one example; all the ones I found so far are:
    • Modern OHV pre-2000
    • DOHC 5 valves/cylinder pre-1989
    • VVL pre-1994 (but switching to Push Rod does not cause errors)
    • VVT pre-1988/1992 (latter is unlock year for DOHC's VVT - All Cams) (likewise, switching to Push Rod does not cause errors)

I imagine there are more to be found, but the game crashed out on some kind of C++ error when I had a twin-turbo V8FP open and attempted to switch blocks to the plain-V category (probably V6).
