Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

So far it works fine, except for one thing. I save my created cars, companies and engines and they appear on the list. But if I close the game and run it again they disappear. I can find them on the folder saved but I can not reach them in the game.

For the last few versions I get errors every time I try to make a turbocharged engine, but I'm pretty sure this is from some version conflict that I haven't figured out how to resolve.

The best way to wipe everything is to delete all local game files via Steam and then manually go to your Steam folder and delete the game folder there if it is still there and head over to your Documents folder and delete the Automation folders you find (My Games\Automation), other than that, there is nothing to delete.

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

Thank you all for all the reports so far :) much appreciated!

Sounds like (pun intended) there are a few things basically everyone runs into, apart from the weird sound issue. On Monday we will release the first patch that probably will get rid of most of these things so that we can focus on the more difficult to find stuff during the rest of the week.

Cheers!

so far we determined error 97 is to do with the bug that exists in ladder chassis, patch should be out monday

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

Initial Test results:

Built a 40s pushrod V12 with the RPM limit set very high, upon engine completion no error was thrown.
Built a 40s ladder frame vehcile, upon completion of building, no error was thrown.

Sound is fully functional on my Windows 10-64bit Lenovo which uses a Realtek Audio DAC, and no issued on my Desktop with Windows 10-64bit Pro which also has a Realtek Audio DAC.

Will tinker with more stuff to see if I can upset it.

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

Thanks for fixing the Ladder Frame and Hand-Crafted Aluminum bugs.

- The new 1946 rear-engine body's cloth top displays in purple and blue. I made sure I didn't have it installed as a mod and verified the cache to be sure.
- Polymer panels still seem to be missing.

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

Issues I saw as of the latest beta patch, which installed perfectly.

-The description for push-rod suspensions is missing. Don't know if its a bug or wasn't written yet.

-Don't know if this is a bug or intended, but engine blocks use the same amount of production units (but not material costs) regardless of how big or small they are.

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

@Trifler: :O I didn't even notice!

Big list of things - sorry, not all bugs:

  • Tested my valve-float error engine - issue seems fixed for me!
  • Was also able to build ladder chassis cars.
  • Aluminium is available in 1940 - is this Hand Made Alu?
  • Still seeing the engine-placement oddity with year. On the attached car*, if I go to the model tab and go back to 1961 or earlier, the engine placement switches from Front Longitudinal to Rear Longitudinal and the rear suspension switches from Solid Axle Leaf to Double Wishbone (as a side effect of the engine placement switch, presumably).

Also, if I go back to 1954 or earlier, the body panel material switches from Fibre Glass to Aluminium - and while that's probably okay behavior in that case (being as Fibre Glass is not available in 1954), going the other way is problematic. Frex: if you have a Carbon Fibre chassis in 1999 and move forward to 2000, it suddenly becomes Glued Aluminium. Similarly, Front Longitudinal becomes Front Transverse moving from pre-'62 to post-'62.

Interestingly, the Gearbox Ratios works perfectly - if 4 is selected in 1940 or 2020, it remains selected as 3 and 2 appear or disappear.
  • Changing the year with Engine Placement but not Front Suspension selected, I got the following Lua Error:

      Code:
    ---------------------------
    Lua Error:
    ---------------------------
tolua++ dbcall failed!: [string "--SANDBOX_DATA\CCarCalculator_Gearbox.lua..."]:46: attempt to index field 'RearSuspension' (a nil value)

You can CTRL+C on this to report it.
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------
  • If you forget to select a drivetrain (durrr...) and attempt to move on to the Engine tab from the Trim Fixtures tab, there's no indication of why it won't.
  • Safety unlock anomalies (1960 and 1994) not yet fixed.

* Forgot to attach the car. Done.

Quick question: is changing wheel offset supposed to no longer affect car weight?

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Bug Reports

Small annoyances:
1. The UI doesn't work well when things unlock "below" another thing in later years.
Example:
- open the engine designer
- set year to 1959
- select V8 engine type
- advance year to 1960, when the V6 unlocks
The UI will now say "V6", but I'm still looking at a V8 engine model.

2. First and Second Muffler engineering time stack even if they're the same type of muffler. (If this is intended, then dual exhaust should double muffler engineering times, which it does not currently)
