every time I go to launch the game a pop up comes up and says checking for updates and immediately disappears then wont launch at all. I have tried to launch the game from steam in my library and it says the same thing. someone please help, I am not able to play the game at all.

Can you verify your game cache by right-clicking the game in your Steam Library, Properties, Local Files, Verify Integrity ?

yes its installed, I launch it and it checks for updates then wont launch. should I reinstall?

yes, if you can't verify game cache and the game isn't launching, there's something wrong and I'd recommend a reinstall.

right click the game in your steam library, click delete local game content, the play button should become an install button

when I deleted it the library says empty and it says I have no games now. where did it go???

The way it works is exactly as cpufreak101 points out, your games don't just disappear from your Steam library, especially not if you choose to uninstall it via the "delete local content" button. I would recommend restarting your steam client.

ok well it looks gone and nowhere to be found, can you please tell me how to restart my client. I don't know how to o mostly anything on steam since I don't use it. I want this game back and I cant recover it.

control alt delete, task manager, go to processes, then find the steam process, click it then click end task, then relaunch steam
