Engineers et al

A totally pointless question for you. Watching your LDU's about the engineering/marketing etc team, and something came to me. Being Anglo-Aussie, I'm probably going to be called a racist for this ( ): Character names. Will they be hard-coded, or will you have a generator, and, if so, will there be a totally random pool of names or will they be determined by where the company/factory is located?

Re: Engineers et al

I'm Asian-Aussie, and you are racist (oooooh buuuuurn)

haha, just kidding. While in early phases, some draft engineers are being worked into the game... but they're being named by the beta-testers. I would hope this will likely change to something closer to what you've suggested here. Best yet would be the ability to name your engineers AND have a pooled name generator for those who can't be bothered, especially if, say, the engineers retire after 30 years and/or quit unexpectedly.

Re: Engineers et al

The names and special character heritage so far are pretty diverse. In the first release the names will be static, but later for the full game and when the character mechanics are more fleshed out, we will probably include a random name generator.

Yeah, for some reason a lot of the engineers are named after beta testers, I wonder why

Re: Engineers et al

Hint, you are unlikely to want to hire Stroppy McHorseguy, his stats as a manager suck :P

EDIT: Let's see who can spot the other beta testers and devs in that list. Mine's super obvious, but the others are not so much unless you've been paying attention!

Probably want Hannah Eynaud though, right? ;)
Salt is what 95% of children are made from, and generally 72% of forum users.

Also 82% of statistics are made up.

Re: Engineers et al

@Killrob: will there be an easy way for players to import their own name lists? I know a lot of LPers like to name things after their fans, and that would be an easy way to automate that.

Re: Engineers et al

Yes vri, if you like your engines tuned for high-performance, you should consider Hannah. She is by no means the most experienced, overall, though, as all my engineers are relatively young and I tried to keep the levels commensurate with the ages.

Lololololololololololol

Yeah, I guarantee you that's way wrong :P

(Theresa is another of mine. The one nicknamed Tesla, who makes the occasional appearance in my company lore.)

Speaking of which, is trackpaduser's surname pronounced at all similarly to the French for "lunch", or am I also way off?

The first syllable is the same, the rest is different but somewhat similar, except the second syllable obviously.

And in my part of the world, that's the word for breakfast
