Dev Question: Extent of Mods?

Since the developers are understandably busy and focused on developing features that provide the largest game impact, my question is:

HOW will the game be structured/designed? In future versions of the game, how easily mod-able would the game be and to what extent can the game be modded?

For example, lots of requests I see here I thought could become a mod a community member could make, such as engine sound fine-tuning, custom engines, custom suspensions, paint types, engineering specialists, different market statistics / new performance stats or rebalances from the community.

Also, mods could create new 'steps' in the car design process (like those pages, engine, trim, etc. in the car design), and add lots of new interior / driving assist options or maybe could replace the entire GUI, new graphs, and whatnot.

I think that if mods could easily be developed and integrated into large parts of the game - engines, tycoon/market, car design, it would make it extremely feature-rich whilst the developers could focus on the big-impact things, mods could instead fine-tune it.

If Automation becomes easily mod-able like KSP (Kerbal Space Program) is, that'd be amazing - KSP already has a handful of mods that are completely game-changing and would be awesome to have those in Automation too, yet I can't imagine a few examples right now haha.
