Re: Game at Launch, What is in? What is Out? - Updated 20/5/

There is one point I believe it's important and seems not to be clearly adressed. Many here has a great knowledge of car history and mechanics. They clearly know the implications of changing settings on engines, transmissions or brakes. Their cars would have an advantage when compared to ignorant people, like me, who doesn't go further than putting gas on their cars every now and then. A tutorial clearly helps but I think something in the lines of a mini-encyclopedia, like in the Sid Meier's CIV series, would be of huge help for us. When I saw the video of you guys designing the car in a matter of seconds I couldn't stop myself of thinking "what in hell does 'more cam' means?". Please help us, o mighty ones but we are dumb and unworthy!!!

in the engine designer a text description is given for each part and what it does so its not as daunting as it all looks infact ive learnt an awful lot from automation :D the devs are working hard at making this game enjoyable for all not just petrol heads.hope this helps.

Re: Game at Launch, What is in? What is Out? - Updated 20/5/

Look in other parts of the engine design, such as head, block, and rod selections. They have a more or less complete appearing information of what the various options do along with advantages and disadvantages. I have no doubt the same approch will be done with all the parts selections and adjustments. Then you and I will both be in better shape for building these things because on some of them I have no clue what they are talking about

Game looks seriously interesting. Very much looking forward to this.

In response to the earlier conversation as far as i am aware there are no IDI engines in new cars. However i work for a company based in the UK that design and build IDI 2 stroke diesel engines for light aircraft so they are around :D

Diesel would be an extremely interesting concept for automation in my eyes. Dont get me wrong im hopeing to have hours and hours of fun how it is but eventually think it would be a good idea!

As Garaculas said, diesel should really be added in quite quickly as a lot of cars run it these days. Surely it adds another element to the game?

Oh it will be in eventually, but for now we already have a massive list of things we need to do to get the game out

I'm quite happy with leaving diesel out altogether, it can stay powering ships, where it belongs

i think we all have to congratulate daffy and Zeussy on this project so far this game has the potential to become one the all time greats and it is mainly due to the legends behind it guys if you two dont become massive with this game and any others you decide to make then this world will have officially gone insane but at least on thing is that at least among petrol heads this game will never be forgotten .

who knows this game could be the rebirth of the tycoon genre and i have no doubt that it can be

If you rely too heavily on fleet sales, it tends to depress the resale value of your retail cars, and make them less desirable. See, e.g., Chrysler, General Motors.

Probably not fleet sales at launch, but it would be something we would like to see.

or maybe a kei car, with a I3 turbo engine :P

gonna be fun to see what sort of fun things people will build in the game.

Well, I do own a kei car. As in the first post, we probably will do I3's, if not at launch soon after.
