Collision avoidance driver assist

I'm thinking that a collision avoidance system as a driver assist could be a nice addition, the kind that is available on luxury cars that automatically applies the brakes when detecting an imminent collision and also gives a warning when another vehicle is in a blind spot. Maybe add it from 2010 onward, with a high price tag from the beginning for luxury cars and working down to a low enough price by 2020 to be practically ubiquitous. Of course it would give a decent boost to safety but reduce sportiness a bit.

Re: Collision avoidance driver assist

Good idea! But can already be found from small city cars at least as an option, so it shouldn't be super expensive. Quite new tech still.

The problem with this one could be that there is plenty of new safety tech on the market. Which should be added and which shouldn't? I can add in one minute at least lane keeping aid, traffic sign detection, adaptive lighting systems and auto high beam system, adptive cruise control, blind spot monitor and different parking assistant systems...

Re: Collision avoidance driver assist

I thought of the parking assist as well, but that's not so much when driving, which is what the stats in this game are about. Maybe cluster a few of them into a "safety assists" driver aid?

Re: Collision avoidance driver assist

A collision sensor would up drivability (the ability to avoid crashing), not safety (how safe the car is when you crash).
A parking sensor would up practicality.

Re: Collision avoidance driver assist

And add an semi-autonomous driving assistant, and auto parking, and stop-start.
