Re: Vehicle Body suggestions

I think that the game needs some more '40s and '40s designs.

Re: Vehicle Body suggestions

A question:

sometimes, while I'm workin on lights I feel the need to modify the morph of the car, but after the first part (when it's time to put lights and grilles) it's impossible to modify. It's necessary to work on a new body.
In the future it will be possible to modify in a second time the car morph?

Re: Vehicle Body suggestions

Most of the cars I see here in the lists seem feasible (partially) with some of the models we already have. I think if we pick cars for new models they should be very iconic. Also preferably some more models for the 40s to 60s. We are a bit short on those atm I think. Here are some suggestions, which others sometimes have some already specified.

1) Aston Martin DB5 (coupe)
Image

2) AC Shelby Cobra 427 (coupe sport)
Image

3) Volvo P1800 (coupe)
Image

4) Jeepster Commando (as an early civilian off-road car)
Image

5) Preston Tucker Torpedo (sedan)
Image

6) Volkswagen Karmann Ghia (coupe), fantastic car body and even 1955!
Image

7) BMW 30CSL
Image

8) Rover P5
Image

8) Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione (I know, not really an older model, but still beautiful)

This one I really like! We have no compact car model for 1940s-1950s.

Speaking of Porsches, I have a suspicion that all the rear-engined bodies in the game will end up resembling the 911 and its sisters.

I'd like to see more small sporty cars in the game; a 2-door hatch like a Volkswagen Scirocco or Honda CR-Z and a small coupe like a Nissan Silvia or Mazda RX-7 would do nicely for starters.

We have do have a "not-Miata" in the game, but yeah, more roadsters definitely wouldn't hurt. :D

My trip to Japan made me eager to build vans like a 90's Hi-ace

And a kei utility box like the modern-day Every/Scrum

Also, I'd like to see things like the staggeringly beatiful Facel Vega Excellence.

Re: Vehicle Body suggestions

I'd like to see more generic bodies as well so that I can make cars that don't have to conform too closely to what the body was in real life... I find it hard to avoid the trap of comparing my design to the real life car and feeling like my effort falls short,

I keep saying this. It should be what the game is all about. The developer's bodies get it but most of the modders just go total copy of the real life version. I don't understand that a modder, given the ability to create whatever body he wants, goes for a copy of something real instead of making something different.

If you are reading this and are a modder. If you don't have enough creativity to make original bodies, at least copy something from a videogame like the GTA cars. Videogames without licences model have nice generic cars.

Re: Vehicle Body suggestions

I could easily show you multiple very obvious copies of IRL cars made by the devs.

This is not a modder only issue and it is far from being as much of an issue as you are making it into.

As for you example with GTA. The exact same thing happens with GTA with many cars that are heavily based on one precise car model.

Anyway, to rerail the thread.

In terms of Vans, a 80s HiAce/T3 transporter and a 90s Transit/T4 transporter would both be very good generic van bodies, with the first one preferably being available as both front and rear engined.

One car that I hope we will see added soon is Felgen's van.

I didn't mean this as a criticism of the IRL copies of cars, they're an integral part of the automation landscape and people who love a certain shape should be able to access that shape either through official or modder bodies. Also some bodies will echo a real life shape simply because that shape is already "generic" like most sedans or hatches. My main ovbservation was that the ratio of IRL to generic was becoming skewed towards IRL and I'd like to see more generic options AS WELL AS more fanboy IRL bodies! :D

IMO it makes more sense for a modder to make an iconic IRL shape as it is Automation who needs to worry about generics/IRL ratio, not the modding community! 8-)

To 80`s
a Compact car family. Maybe the Fiat Uno Family ( The Uno 3/5 doors, the sedan Fiat Premio and the wagon Fiat Elba)

a mid size car, maybe the Fiat Tipo family ( Tipo, Tempra and Tempra SW) or Opel Kadett family

I'm currently working on a Mk1 Panda Inspired body (not quite an Uno but it is a small 80s supermini) - see below
preview.png

I'm also inspired by the Tipo/Tempra

Sorry for the late answer!

Very nice model, by the way. BUt even better if there was a compact version, like the Uno. But the 80´s Panda is a very nice thing!!

Yeah, I see what you're saying. Not that I myself have too much of an issue with real bodies, but I would definitely like to see more generic cars for sure. I've already posted a link to GTA V's cars, and there's other games that have cool looking generic cars, too.

The models for Saints Row are a bit more, erm, fantastic than GTA's but some designs can be worked with without much trouble:

http://saintsrow.wikia.com/Vehicles_in_Saints_Row

Driver had some pretty interesting cars as well, especially in the third game and Parallel Lines:

http://driver.wikia.com/wiki/Category:V ... llel_Lines
http://driver.wikia.com/wiki/ASYM?file= ... ne_Civ.jpg

And even Burnout has some fine models that you can draw inspiration from:

Re: Vehicle Body suggestions

Probably suggesting 3 bodies:
An Exoskeleton body of that of a Ariel Atom (once rear engine is implemented)
A Body of the Smart Roadster
a Mastretta Body
If you dont know the car here is the body
