Factory Size Analogies

Since I've been looking at various kinds of car plants, and since the factory size feature was installed, I'm curious as to what a good analogy for each factory size in-game is. One of the little dev updates said that Small 1 was somewhat like the Morgan one and Small 2 like Ferrari, that being the only reference beyond looking at how many cars of a certain type each one can make and guessing.

Tiny: ???
Small 1: Morgan
Small 2: Ferrari
Small 3: ???
Medium 1: ???
Medium 2: ???
Medium 3: ???
Large 1: ???
Large 2: ???
Large 3: ???
Huge: ???

Re: Factory Size Analogies

Some more would be
(one of the countless Toyota Factories) Medium 250 cars / day, (Nummi) Large 850 cars / day, (VW Wolfsburg) Huge ~2000 cars / day

The size is best defined by the rough cars per day numbers:
  Code:
Size      Cars/Day
Tiny        10
Small 1     30
Small 2     50
Small 3     80
Medium 1   160
Medium 2   240
Medium 3   320
Large 1    600
Large 2   1000
Large 3   1400
Huge      2000

Edit: those numbers are for reasonably simple cars... of course putting in a super or hypercar would drop numbers a lot.

Re: Factory Size Analogies

Much easier to understand with some quick and simple numbers to look at. Much appreciated.

Re: Factory Size Analogies

Just out of curiosity: in terms of the factory stuff you're doing now in the closed beta, what kind of options are represented by the production numbers now? Is this the equivalent of two shifts on all the defaults?

Re: Factory Size Analogies

I'm guessing tiny is like Pagani (55 staff), which makes me wonder, how many staff would this correspond to? Wolfsburg, by comparison, has approximately 2300 staff. A modern day reasonable car is perhaps anywhere between 70-110PU or a bit more, so that means that 10 cars a day translates to 8-12 PU/worker per day. Does that sound about right?

Re: Factory Size Analogies

That depends on the level of automation of the factory too. VW Wolfsburg has 44200 employees (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_V ... _factories)
Larger factories have higher levels of automation so they need less staff per production unit.

Those numbers are the 3-shift equivalents.
The staff scaling is so ridiculous that I can't see it working in game if made realistic with the other parameters as they are :) VW Wolfsburg would have 11k staff in the game, while Ferrari would have around 400. (Both for 2-shift equivalents)

Re: Factory Size Analogies

aha, that makes sense, thanks killrob!

(Also how did I come up with 2300... in retrospect that's an awfully small number...)
