Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Feedback

The new update is great :), but I have found an error:

error.jpg (29.74 KiB) Viewed 4646 times

This occurs when I press the start button in the test track mode with a V12 engined car.

Edit: it happens to every car I test
Edit 2: only with the not-vanilla test tracks

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Feedback

In the interest of offering feedback that is not misfiled bug reports: I'm enjoying the new build. I think I just built an engine that was overrevving its crankshaft, which is new and intriguing.

I also look forward to using the Engineering Time/Engineering Costs/Tooling Costs to make my own custom Car Tycoon Challenge. I went in and checked: the data on the Results screen for the trim does not include the engine costs, which makes sense - engines are often shared between model lines, and their costs would have to be shared likewise. And the factory sizes are going to be an awesome tool for CTCing - I may eventually come up with a way of working out car sales month-by-month for a challenge.

Same problem with audio. You can try to change default format to 16 bits in audio driver. (It helped me with Realtek drivers)

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Feedback

Actually, I'm glad to see it's possible to over-rev crankshafts now. Before, the only reason to ditch the cheap cast iron crank was if you were literally making so much torque that you kept breaking it. Now, there's a reason to go up a level or two on crankshafts in the event that you're making a low-torque, but high-revving engine.

Also really loving the sound of the V12. I know, it's not the steady scream like a Ferrari or Lamborghini, but I like the rumble in the low-rev range, steadily increasing to a roaring howl of power when pushed past 8000 RPM. It's currently my favorite engine sound.

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Feedback

So I just made a discovery. I had the old beta selected before the update came out last night, and it downloaded a 500 and something MB update. I then had the problem with the sound, so I decided to take the open beta off and immediately the game started dowloading a second update that is 439 MB. I will come back later and let you guys know if this fixes the issue.

I haven't done enough experimentation to confirm that that's really what was happening, but I absolutely agree. :)

Re: Open Beta [B151127+] Feedback

I made a car, went to go to the stats screen and got this .lua

---------------------------
Lua Error:
---------------------------
tolua++ dbcall failed!: [string "--shared\functional\math.lua..."]:97: attempt to index local 'value' (a nil value)

You can CTRL+C on this to report it.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

No stats work at all and I checked to make sure that I'd selected all the options before moving on...

EDIT: I checked to see if the body was involved with the error and it seems that the new bodies cause this error; old school vanilla bodies don't cause the bug but the engines don't seem to affect it.

HighOctane, are you using a ladder chassis on that car? I think a bug was discovered with ladder chassis cars with particular materials.

The error happened on ladder chassis cars (one galvanised, the other steel) but not on a monocoque car... I'll re-check the new body with a monocoque to determine if it's chassis related!

EDIT: I re-did the body I tried earlier with a monocoque body and it worked fine, then I tried a known working body with a ladder chassis and it failed... The Ladder chassis is bugged!!!

Actually, I have a question about the Sequential transmissions for the Devs. Any reason for the removal of 8-speed sequentials?
