Saving tho

>be me, spent 2 hours designing a car in open beta
>hit "copy the visual design of this car to all new trims"
>press save
>go to another trim
>press the "reset" button next to the copy visual design button
>nothing happens
>design is gone on my original car too

thank automation

No, but really. On a serious note this has actually rather annoyed me as I thought these issues were fixed. I'm not going to 100% blame it on the game, because I may have done something wrong but I figured it would be worth adding the car for the devs to look at just in case.

Also, the design was made on the "5.4 auto" trim.

Re: Saving tho

There is no "copy the visual design of this car to all new trims" button, so I don't quite get what you're talking about?

Re: Saving tho

(See edit)

I mean the button here:

I pressed that after I finished the design, and went to another trim and pressed the button just to the left of that to load the final design.

Re: Saving tho

Okay, let me try if this is working or not.

Edit: works perfectly fine here. What I did is:
Ignore model design.
Design Trim.
Create another trim via clone button.
Create another trim via new trim button.
Load original trim, hit Copy to Template button in trim section.
Load any new trim.
Hit Reset Trim to Template.
I now have the old one and the new one in the style of the old one.

Re: Saving tho

Yeah, I've used it before on cars and it worked perfectly fine. Is it possible that because I didn't save BEFORE I pressed the copy button that the game copied the design it had on record (the design that I originally loaded)? If you understand what I mean.

Re: Saving tho

Ohh yeah, that could be. The visual design is NOT saved automatically, that's why the disc in the upper right starts blinking when there have been changes made that are not saved yet. It automatically saves as soon as any slider or listbox item is changed.

Re: Saving tho

Just asked our programmer though, the disc item is only for saving to disc. If you press the copy to template button the current state of the car you're working on is copied over. So it can't really be that. Maybe you mis-clicked the copy to template button or slid off the button before releasing the left mouse button?

Re: Saving tho

Perhaps. I was also thinking that I may have pressed the "reset" button instead of the copy one and didn't notice.

Re: Saving tho

That is an issue I have had myself, because the buttons look pretty much the same, so I always have to think before deciding which one to press.

Yes, I always have to wait for the tool tip to remember which is which.
