Cars: No license!

Cooling

Hey all.

Working on a car, and I've managed to put together a smooth V8 that produces around 650HP while maintaining a 75 reliability and 44 emissions. My car weighs about 3000lb, and yet the top speed is around 140MPH, and the MPG is 11. Wat?
Hanging out with titleguy earlier, he mentioned it might be the cooling. Alright, let's check. Huh. No estimated cooling boxes anymore. Now, I know I may sound like an idiot, but I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THE COOLING ASPECTS. Dangit. So how can I figure out how much cooling I'm getting while adding vents?

Re: Cooling

You can alter the amount of cooling via the aerodynamics tab in the trim. It also tells you while your adding fixtures in the model tab.

Re: Cooling

It doesn't adjust enough. I meant a way to find how much cooling I get when adding vents.

Re: Cooling

How is it not enough? It goes from zero cooling to full cooling, also the cooling flaps option gives the best mpg as its a active system.

Re: Cooling

Well when you add more vents and grills there should be a popup black box as your stretching it showing the amount of cooling.

Re: Cooling

I see one on my game, that's weird... Maybe post the car file so we can look?
Edit* Wait... So your top speed is low and the mpg is bad, is the car reliability also low as if the engine is overheating?

Ok, so now the black box is back.. Odd. WAIT!

aw jeez... i thought ft2 was kj... dangit... So, as it turns out, I have 2700 kj of cooling, but I still have the same problem.

Re: Cooling

Did you adjust the transmission? Are you producing massive down force?

Re: Cooling

erm...yeahijustscrewedupsomehowidunno.

THe est. top speed before was 140ish, so I put it there, but not much change after that, I just got around 50 more HP. Change the top speed, now it's at 207... I dunno...

Re: Cooling

Speaking of cooling. With the introduction of rear-engine cars, will be need to create cooling fixtures towards the engine or can be just put a front-mounted grille? (which should be more expensive/inefficient since you need to build the piping from the radiator to the engine)

Re: Cooling

Cooling has been adapted such that you do get cooling from putting vents on the rear and side for mid/rear cars in the next update.

Re: Cooling

Vents behind/above the front wheel, venting the hot air from the engine compartment. Will they ever be implemented?

Re: Cooling

Not very important right now, but maybe yes. You can put some there for your cosmetics anyway ;)
