I think there's something wrong with my Total Cost

So I was there, play Automation and trying to make some kind of my own version of the Ford Focus (at least the engine is based on it).
The peoblem is that I'm try to make it the lowest price possible, and then, I see this:

Is that really $114.368,66? Becouse I want something around $12.000~$25.000
Is this a bug or is just me being dumb?

Looks like you used a lot of quality sliders somewhere

Well, your 5 main stats are quite good, but Production Units are very high, leading me to believe you may have extensively used quality sliders. The quality sliders greatly affect cost and man hours. :)

Re: I think there's something wrong with my Total Cost

I think production units work out to about $30-35 per - there are a lot of places where material cost goes down with quality but production units go up, and usually that means net cost is going up.

Actually, yes. I didn't know it affected the price and production units. Thanks for helping! :D

Re: I think there's something wrong with my Total Cost

Don't forget that this is the building cost of the car, the selling value is often 2-3 times higher, so you might want to kill some sliders. I also noticed that your fuel economy is very poor and the drivability is quite low for this sort of car.

A 2015 car in that segment should have over 50 drivability, cost between 6k and 9k total and have around 120 production units :) more work to be done!

Also, I don't know how large your engine is, but even with those sort of power figures, ~7l/100km should be doable.

Costs between 6 to 9k for a Focus rival? I'm afraid not, Robert. Those would cost around 9k to 11k, since they have AHS chassis and expensive rear suspension.

Depends on what you are aiming for, I quickly built one that matches what I thought would be possible on a budget:

Re: I think there's something wrong with my Total Cost

Yup, it is definitively possible to make something decent with 8500~9000 as long as you stay decently small.

Image

That thing has AHS steel chassis, Aluminium panels, double wishbone rear suspension and a turbocharged 1L engine with VVT, DOHC 4V and DFI.

Re: I think there's something wrong with my Total Cost

The point, Killrob, isn't to make a cheap car, it's to make something comparable to real life, that car you made, for example, has a comfort rating below the cars from my 1993 challenge. I made a Focus/Golf mash-up replica, using an engine based on the 2.0 Duratec, and considering how upmarket those cars now are inside, premium interior, with standard entertainment. It isn't optimised, but there you have the results. Also, trackpaduser, you made your car in 2005. And you both used bodies from a class below.
