Re: Car Reviewing

Very nice, some very tight competition in this review, ill take 5th place any day. My car accomplished what i designed it for, to haul ass without hauling your ass to the bank with fuel. All of these cars were so close.

I am a bit surprised that i just checked this , and the difference between a performance intake and standard is 700 dollars...good lord.

There is also an error in the review my car(hawker) is listed as 4 star reliabllity in that section and listed as best, while in the bottom section listing of all the cars, i get 2 stars there.

I don't see a problem? Try refreshing the PDF with Ctrl+F5. It mostly fixes issues on AutomationHub xD.

Anyway, how the CTRL+F5 fixes stuff for real, indeed it was a little mistake I made! Fixed!

Re: Car Reviewing

Nice work! Although because you are reviewing so many cars, sometimes it is hard to keep track of which car is which. Maybe its just because RM Rigel isn't as recognisable as say Honda Civic Type R in my mind :)

Re: Car Reviewing

I'm shocked no one else made V8!

I have to admit getting safety option notch higher would have been good idea, I certainly had funds to spare and extra weight wouldn't completely ruin performance (I'll still take 3 stars though). Another mistake I made is putting high flow cat on it which doesn't really do anything other than begin more expensive and insignificantly lighter than regular three way. Oh well I was doing it in a hurry and I'm in no position to complain about results ;) .

One thing though, avoid featuring winner (alone) on the cover in future, it's bit of a spoiler.

Man I guess now I'll have to put some effort into it's page on AutomatonHub.

Re: Car Reviewing

Well, to me a v8 makes no sense in this car honestly, no low rpm power. But being unique is always a nice selling/review point.

It was such hard choice to put a turbo on mine and ruin the power band but i wanted more mid range power.

By no means did I know this upfront. I learned later on that it was this way. I just randomly pick a car to put on the cover and then when I finished the Overall page with all the stars and who came first, second etc. I found out that your RM Rigel was that car! :P

In the first one, I picked the Baltazar, which won, because I liked its design to be on the frontpage. Since I like this new Baltazar Quark a lot too in design, but he already made it to the frontpage, I had to pick a different one xD

Maybe I should become some future predictor or something.

Re: Car Reviewing

Finally i can take the glue off my PC cha... *puts more glue*

I expected way less powerful cars! The body is the size of a Fiesta, so i indeed went for FiST performance, but the all-aluminium construction screwed it up, i wanted to be realistic and sensible, but also to have a groundbreaking, advanced car. That backfired. I'm making it better, just for science!

"Sensible" and "Jakgoe" do not go in the same sentence. Or paragraph. Or language.

Re: Car Reviewing

Congratulations for Janekk for winning, thanks to Cheeseman and Wizzy for taking their time to do this, very nice work.

Vic said that Jakgoe and sensible don't go in the same sentence, the issue there was me. I was the one who decided to take a realistic approach, making the RS version directly related to the common Quark, which had won the comparison. The plan was to use the same engine, albeit tuned for extra sportiness. However, when talking Jack decided to make a new engine, which is miles better. But, having it based on a sensible car hampered the capabilities of the car. It still has the same AHS steel chassis and steel body, couple with cheap torsion beam suspension. The morphing is exactly the same, as are the headlights and taillights.

Congratulations again to Janekk who won using a bespoke car, developed to excel at this challenge. I am very pleased with my second place conquered by my sensible approach and an attempt at being realistic.

Re: Car Reviewing

I'm using AHS steel monocoque and torsion beam too. The biggest reason I used V8 is ... because V6 isn't available yet, I6 is too long to fit and I simply didn't want I4. In any case it's hard to tailor a car for challenge when basically all you're told is to build FWD hot-hatch. I assure you Cheeseman didn't secretly send me scoring guidelines ;) .
